A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step

Author: Claire Chapman

Take the first step...

What is it you want? Where do you want to go? Now you know where you are going, think about where you are now. What's the first thing that you need to do to get moving? If possible, do it today. Life is full of "if only" and "I couldn't because". Don't be someone full of regrets because of what you didn't do, be someone who is full of stories of what they have done.

Keep taking steps.... even if they feel like baby steps!

We all have those days where it feels like every step is painful, or there is something else to do, or it's just plain too difficult. It's the "don' wanna" cry of the tantruming two! Even if it's something really simple, take one step. Mark Forster talks about this when he says, "Just get the file out". It's only a small step, but it proves your intent. After all, after you've got the file out, it's not as difficult to do something with it, is it? Have any projects that seem to have been at a standstill? Just do one thing today to get moving on it. You probably already know what it is!

Enjoy it...

I've got a quote on my fridge that reads, "Remember that happiness is a means of travel, not a destination". Get there - have fun on the journey. Enjoy it when you get there rather than moving straight to the next place, next goal, and next challenge. Rest a while and glory in the fabulousness of what you have achieved. Tell everyone!

...And then work out what steps you want to take next!

You've achieved it - what's next? There are always new opportunities coming our way. What opportunities are you spotting right now that you are excited about? What's your first step for that?

Motivation, The Heart of Self Improvement

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don’t need money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends – are life’s greatest ‘F’ treasures. Don’t loose sight of them.

G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people – the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K – keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.

L – Learn to love your self. Now isn't that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah build the ark.

S – Stop procrastinating.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on “extras” on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you’re just going to spend it once.

Z – Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

"A Better You", 7 ways to self-improvement

I seem to have lost count on how many times I've read and heard of celebrity marriages failing. Not that I care (and personally I don't), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

1. Know your purpose
Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight spot or even a dead end. But there's always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

2. Know your values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2005 - check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn't align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn't discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs
Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it's too late!

4. Know your passions
You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out
Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it's hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There's sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

6. Honor your strengths
What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three - if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others
When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

Attract the Universe and Achieve Your Goals

by: Donny Pazzero

The Universal Law of Attraction can be a very effective tool in making you achieve your goals and practically everything else you want to have in this lifetime. You will realize that desire should always start from within, and the world will just obey your thoughts, actions and ideas. Here are some guidelines on how to get your objectives just the way you want.

Ask the Universe

According to the Universal Law of Attraction, ask the universe and it shall give to you. However, to achieve your goals, you have to truly have an idea about what kind of thing or event you want to happen in your life. There are plenty of items that you can ask from the world. The most common are superficial things such as money, a new car, a new house, etc. More meaningful items include better relationships with your family or wife, happiness in your job and life, etc. All of these can be given to you at the time you want and in the extent you need. To help you work out what you want find a personal development consultant who will help you identify this at a very low cost for you.

The Way You Ask

The way you ask the universe will also matter. Keep in mind that the universe will immediately hear and respond in the manner you believe in. Your first thought might go, 'I want a brand new Ferrari.' The world will then respond, 'Your wish is my command.' However, other thoughts can still enter such as, 'But it may still be when I'm in my 40's.' or 'But it will happen when I get the promotion.' or even 'It can't happen.' The world will just say yes to everything you inject in your thoughts.

The time, extent, severity and other details of your wish will be determined by your mind alone. If you have any doubt or disbelief about the power of the universe to provide, then it will truly give to you accordingly. Make sure you clean your thoughts thoroughly so that you set your goals straight and allow the universe to perform the best way.

Your Actions

Once you and your personal development consultant have set your goals and asked from the universe, your mind, thoughts and body will start acting automatically to lead towards the goals and objectives. You will subconsciously accomplish small tasks and open up a wide array of opportunities that are meant to direct you to the ultimate mark. Renew your goals each morning as you wake up and your body will just function immediately towards these.

Work both consciously and subconsciously. Remember that it also requires effort and discipline on your part to receive the best things in life. Do not expect everything to just fall into place. If you want to land that promotion, then you should start going to work early, volunteer for projects and show that you are prepared for bigger responsibilities.

Staying Positive

The Universal Law of Attraction helps you achieve your goals, as long as you remain positive. Always believe that the universe is capable of providing immediately. Anything can actually happen, in the time you have set. Always be optimistic in the face of adversary. It is not impossible that you will encounter a few problems along the way, but what's more important is how you relate to the situation in a positive light. Be conscious about what's happening and act to alleviate the effects. If every you need support with any of this then take advantage of the amazing benefits of having a personal development consultant.

Daily Goal Setting Tips

by Evelyn McFarland

To make your days as productive as possible, the first step is to clear the clutter from your mind and life. Here are some very simple yet effective tips, which will make the most of your day.

1. Chalk out a detailed plan to reach your target. For instance, let's assume that you want to clear the clutter in your room. What if your room looks like a pigsty, and you have not found the time to clean it for months? You will feel overwhelmed and may not even know where to start. So to achieve the goal of cleaning your room, break the goal into small steps. Jot down a list of things you need to do, in order to clear up all the stuff that you have collected. Decide on things you want to throw away like old shoes, clothes, make-up products etc. Once this is done, set up a time limit for each of these steps. You have now broken down a task that seemed overwhelming, into a doable task that has several small steps.

2. Ask someone in your life to be your accountability partner. It could be your sibling, partner, parent or a good friend. This person can help you attain your goals, since you would have to keep updating him/her on your progress regularly. Your accountability partner will help you achieve your goals and overcome hurdles.

3. Remember that there might be hurdles along the way. Several people give up on their goals, just because they face a few unexpected obstacles. It could be an internal obstacle or an external one. Obstacles could be things like discipline issues, negative thinking, limiting belief system, lack of time etc. Try to analyze the situation and understand the hurdles that might come up, so that you can get past them.

4. Once you know the kind of hurdles you might have to face, have an action plan ready. Let's say you have set a goal for yourself, according to which you will give up smoking in 6 months. What if you are in the company of smokers? What if someone offers you a cigarette? Initially, you can try and excuse yourself when you are in the company of smokers. You can try out nicotine patches. When you go to restaurants, you can choose to sit in the non-smokers zone. Just have a plan to cope with various obstacles that might come your way.

5. Every time you succeed, celebrate and rejoice. As you work towards your large goal, you will have to get past various small ones. Every time you achieve one of these smaller goals, reward yourself. This will help you stay motivated, since you will always be aiming at finishing a small goal to get to the reward. It might take years before you can reach your long-term goal, but your efforts towards this goal need to be rewarded.

Reaching your target is not always easy, but every time you move away from the path, get right back on. You may have to take a few detours, you may have to get some rest, but never give up. Never lose hope and before you know it, you will be where you have always wanted to be.

Law of Attraction - Five Ingredients For The Best Wealth Affirmation

by: Suzanne Glover

When using the Law of Attraction, the best wealth affirmation you can give yourself is something much different from the average wealth quotes and affirmations. What you want to do is start building the foundation for wealth from a different angle. This article talks about an uncommon way to wealth using an uncommon approach to creating a wealth affirmation.

First, let's talk about the average "wealth affirmation." What comes to mind when you're thinking of wealth and building the foundation for wealth using the Law of Attraction?

The first thing that usually comes to mind is to have the feeling of "rolling in dough" and being able to buy anything "your little heart desires." A wealth affirmation in line with this frame of mind would be something like, "I love my new Jaguar" and to put up a picture of that vehicle on your vision board.

While this external approach has been known to work, it is rather difficult to sustain long enough to get the desired object, in this case, the Jaguar, because it's "single-faceted and superficial," rather than "multi-faceted and deeply driven."

When you want to invoke the Law of Attraction in manifesting wealth, you'll want to be sure you have a wealth affirmation that comes from different angles and does five things:

1. Finds True Desire

2. Motivates

3. Gives Permission

4. Initiates Energy

5. Removes Blocks to Receiving

FINDS TRUE DESIRE. When building the foundation for wealth and creating your wealth affirmation, a key point is to identify the root emotion behind wanting something. In other words, in learning how to manifest what you want, you first have to really "find out exactly what you want on an emotional level." For example, if you want a luxury car, ask yourself if you want it for "ego purposes," or for "luxury because you deserve it" purposes. No matter what the reason, once you identify the true emotion behind getting the material object, you have the emotional charge to invoke the Law of Attraction and discover the secret of wealth.

MOTIVATES. Hope motivates you to action, so you want to create a wealth affirmation that gives you hope. Once your mind feels hopeful and motivated, your mind will also figure out how to attract wealth.

GIVES PERMISSION. A good wealth affirmation also gives you permission to feel "allowed to receive." My wealth plan always includes a lot of money affirmations and wealth quotes that make me feel deserving and receptive.

INITIATES PHYSICAL ENERGY. Another good ingredient when doing wealth affirmations is giving yourself better health to fulfill the tasks that you've become motivated to do once you have hope and permission.

REMOVES BLOCKS TO RECEIVING. Lastly, a crucial part of learning how to attract wealth and building the foundation for wealth is to release deeply held, yet negative, beliefs about having money and material things. While this may sound like an uncommon way to wealth, this actually opens the door wide open to allow you to receive money and wealth. The best way to do this, although also uncommon, is to re-program your subconscious thoughts around money by using subliminal audios that specifically help you remove blocks to receiving money and wealth.

Writing wealth affirmations and building the foundation for wealth is multi-faceted because when you find your true desires, give yourself hope, permission and energy, you'll have the motivation to make things happen. Once you have subliminally removed blocks to receiving what you want, you've "blasted the door wide open" to allowing the Law of Attraction to respond to your wishes.

While this sounds like an uncommon way to wealth, it is the best way to create a multi-faceted, emotionally driven wealth affirmation that invokes the Law of Attraction and helps you discover the secret of wealth because you've tapped into the real reason, motivation and ability to obtain it by finding true desire and removing blocks to getting what you want.

Suzanne offers more information about how to subliminally release deeply held, yet negative, beliefs about money in her How to Attract Money Using Subliminals article. Suzanne also gives more free tips and advice at Effective-Positive-Thinking.com.

Motivation Keys

Motivation Keys By Anthony D Carter

"Motivation is an inside job." I am sure you have heard that said many times. It really is a true saying. The keys to being motivated lie within your own mind. It is not other people pumping you up that is going to give you lasting motivation. Use these three keys to maintain high levels of motivation over long periods of time:

1-Get a big dream. To stay motivated you need to have a dream that matters greatly to you. When you possess a big dream you will be compelled to do the work in order to make it a reality in your life. It is easier to get fired up when you know you are working for something that matters a great deal to you. It is up to you to determine what that is. Take some time to reflect on what it is that you would like to have. Figure out what makes you happy.  Determine what makes you excited when you think of the mere possibilities of obtaining it. Once you know what that dream is then you have a reason to stay motivated all the time.

2-Keep your dream in front of you. Focus in on your dream and maintain excitement about obtaining it at all times. Whether it is an actual photograph or it is a picture that you hold in your mind, keep that picture in front of you always. Think about it. Look at it. Imagine it. Act as if you already have your dream. What does it feel like? You need to harness those emotions. Those good feelings will propel you towards your dream. You will have no problem summoning motivation once you have a clear picture of what you want constantly on your mind.

3-Consistently do the work. Sometimes you may feel disappointments. Or you may get frustrated. You may even feel like it is taking too long to get the results that you want. I have an remedy for each of the emotional barriers that you are sure to face. I prescribe a four letter word spelled W-O-R-K. Work is actually therapeutic. When you do the proper work consistently it insulates you from procrastination, regret and hesitation. As you do the work you develop new skills. You also gain confidence. You develop a knowing within that you will have what you want because you are paying the price to get it.

Three Steps For Taking Control of Your Future And Living Life to the Fullest

by Jane Mountrose

Are you frustrated with the direction your life is taking and ready to make some positive changes in your life? If you really want to assume command, you may be thinking you'd like to be your own boss and create a larger income and have more control of your time, so you can really enjoy life.

If this sounds like you, then you are moving into new territory, which can feel scary. On the other hand, taking charge of your future is a positive step in becoming the person you are meant to be.

In contrast to what people are saying about times being tough and prospects looking bleak, there are ways that you can create improved health, greater wealth, and more free time. And you can start today with these important success secrets.

Three Keys for Taking Command and Creating the Best Possible Life

1. Take a close look at where you are now. Taking command of your life involves living more intentionally. Most men and women are unclear about where they would most like to go and how to get there. The place to start, then, is with creating a vision of the life you desire. Decide what you'd like to get from life if you could be, do, and have anything you want, which you can.

Most people miss this critically important step. They are told that they've got to work more and work faster to get more from their lives. This is completely wrong. These people wind up losing control, rushing from one thing to the next without ever deciding exactly where they hope to go and getting even less from life.

2. Put your dreams in writing. When you do this, they become clearer. Many individuals avoid doing this, too, because they are afraid that they won't ever succeed.

Actually, statistics show that the people who write down their dreams and goals are the ones who succeed. Which type of person do you want to be? Can you be satisfied being a person who doesn't ever commit and never starts? Or do you want to be the rare individual who gets on the road to your dreams and never looks back?

The key here is to get onto the road to success now. This requires doing another thing most people won't do.

3. Get out of your comfort zone and learn to think like an entrepreneur. Those who take this step are happier and more satisfied with their results. They also usually run their own businesses, which is a huge change for most men and women.

Business owners are a special breed of enterprising people with a vision. To start to become more like an entrepreneur, ask yourself these questions:

How might you provide a product or service that would bring value to others?

How might you offer this value with a product or service you love to do?

How might you make this easy so you also have more free time AND have the income you desire?

You might not have answers for all of these questions now and that's okay. You most likely know that if you are an employee you can't take command of your life and create the future you envision for yourself and those you love.

For the most part, people working for others are realizing someone else's dream, earning an income that will never provide the amount of money or control of your time that you long for. Start with the steps you read here to take charge and get yourself on track for living life to the fullest today.

Discover "Why Success Training is Critical in Business" today and get ready to take command of your life.

Become A Master of Change

When to change? - What to change? - How to change?

For most of us, the thought of change can send us into a panic attack. For some of us, we might fear change because it disrupts our sense of security and consistency by challenging our perceptions. As much as we crave stability and security, change is an inevitable part of life and we can either choose to embrace it or resist it.

From the minute we are born, our body remains in constant change and resisting it only makes it harder to get through it. Resistance to change isn't because we purposely want to go against the grain; we do it because we're fearful of the unknown outcome. We don't know what's on the other side and for no rational reason we resist it, thinking that will help us.

The fear of change comes from the fact that change challenges the perceptions and beliefs that our life is built upon. When change challenges our perceptions, we are forced to step outside our comfort zone, and that's uncomfortable. Additionally, when our perceptions are challenged, so is the ground our life is built upon. We are forced through change, to refine our perceptions and belief systems that we thought were true. Let's face it, when the very perceptions and belief system your life is built on is threatened, it can be uncomfortable. But it can also be very rewarding and exciting.

Change is the inevitable constant refinement of our being. Whether you want it or not, change is inevitable. Inaction and resistance cannot completely stop change; it will only lessen your personal growth and add frustration to your life. You will become stagnant and remain inside the boundaries of a very limited life while everyone and everything grows around you. You aren't reading this article to stay the same, and I don't believe we were put on this earth to be stagnant - you want to grow and improve. Wouldn't you like to discover your potential? What about becoming a better person for you, your family, and the world?

Life is really a series of changes and each change is a challenge. It's an opportunity for us to learn - to grow - to expand. Some changes might be small while others may be large, but they each bring the opportunity to learn something new about yourself and the world around you.
With each new lesson you learn from the previous challenge, you become more adept at applying what you've learned to future growth and challenges. Change actually becomes much easier to handle because when you come out the other side, you gain valuable skills and experiences that you can apply to the rest of your life. Instead of being fearful, you may even have fun being more open to change because you know your life will be that much better.

With a constant refinement of perceptions and beliefs, change goes from sending us into a panic attack to being just another task we successfully complete. It goes from being a major incident to a whole new exciting adventure. With every change you make in your life, you become more adept at building solid ground no matter what the situation; and rationally dealing with your fear instead of allowing your perceptions to falsely magnify it. Change becomes fun and exciting, and you learn to actually welcome it.

Here's how you become a master of change:

Inaction and Resistance Carries Bigger Consequences
There's no way out and around it. Choosing inaction or resistance to change carries bigger consequences than choosing to face the change head-on in the first place. You are an ever changing person in an ever changing world and resistance just adds fear and frustration to every situation. Learn to be open to creating new and exciting adventures that change will bring.

Focus on the Desired End Result
Worrying about what might happen will not help you deal with what's at hand. Focus on where you want to be when the change is complete. The mind has an uncanny way of being a goal-achieving machine and will create your reality based on the thoughts you are focused upon. You want to keep your desired end result in mind at all times, and only think about what you want to happen not what you don't want to happen. What got you to where you are today isn't what will take you where you want to be. Look at your long-range desired results and embark on a new journey to even greater outcomes.

Rationalize Your Fear
Fear is a natural response, but try to identify what it is you are afraid of. Fear is usually the result of our mind creating hypothetical dramas that have no base in reality. If you find yourself fearful of the outcome of an impending change, ask yourself what you're afraid of. There is a solution to everything and when you rationalize your fear, you can see that you are going to be just fine. You can just suck it up, and as Nike says, "Just Do It." Do what you are afraid of doing and reap the benefits. You will quickly discover that the experience of change wasn't worth all that anxiety over the unknown. Each time you rationalize the fear, you will have greater courage to "Just Do It" in the future.

Break it into Manageable Pieces
For major changes, break it down into smaller manageable pieces. It's much easier to identify a solution when you can apply a strategy to deal with each step. When you know what you're going to do each step of the way, you can get to the end result with confidence and a rational strategy.

Last but not least, celebrate your victories. Each time you felt the fear and did it anyway, you were victorious and reaped the benefits of showing that you are a champion! Little by little you'll learn to trust your abilities more and to handle anything that comes your way. When you rationalize the fear and create successful strategies, you come out a winner on the other side. Look at change as a fun and exciting adventure. Reap the many rewards!

You can resist change, but only temporarily. When you resist the natural flow of the world, which is based on change, your life becomes a series of challenges that are amplified by your resistance. Resist them and you become a victim - embrace them and you become a true master of change.

I have lived a long life and had many troubles, most of which never happened.

How to Celebrate The Joy of Everyday

By: Roseanna Leaton

Every day brings fresh happenings, unique situations and circumstances to those who look at the world with new eyes. Every day carries with it many opportunities to find and to create joy, so long as this is the outcome that you seek.

A gentleman in a store asked me the other day how the day was going for me. I provided a one-word answer - "perfect". A look of surprise came over his face and then he admitted that I was the first person who had provided that answer in the two year period that he had asked the same rhetorical question of every customer who stood on the opposite side of his counter.

Apparently most people respond that their day is pretty average, so-so or in fact pretty awful. Few people state that their day is going well, let alone that it is great or perfect. Don't you find that sad?

An octogenarian friend whom I admire greatly often quips, "If you're not having fun it's your own fault". Some people work their way through life with endless curiosity, humor and enthusiasm whilst others sadly do not. Living with an attitude of childlike wonder and joy makes life so much better in very many ways; it's more fun, more enjoyable and a whole lot easier on the mind and body.

The people who have this light and bright attitude do always acknowledge that their attitude is their own choice. They recognize that they have chosen to view their world in this way. In contrast, those who have a bleaker outlook on life tend to believe that they do not have a choice in this matter, that life has thrown them a tough, difficult or unfair hand.

Once you realize that you do have a choice in how you view circumstances, irrespective of how good or bad those circumstances happen to be, you will find that a huge weight is simultaneously lifted from your shoulders. You immediately step out from beneath black and threatening clouds and instead find that you can see blue sky and bright sunlight.

Happiness comes from within. Happiness does not derive from circumstances or events; rather, it comes from choosing to see your world in a relaxed, comfortable and positive manner. In choosing to take responsibility for the way in which you think, you free yourself to enjoy the inherent beauty of your world.

What do you do when you lack motivation?

Personally, I have found that I lack motivation the most when my belief level in whatever it is that I am doing is low. That is basically the only reason why I believe that I don't feel like I'm capable of doing something or have the drive to even do it. If you are doing something, and you have a low belief in it, chances are you won't be so motivated to do it if you feel this way!

So, anytime you find yourself lacking the motivation and drive to do something, ask yourself how much you believe in whatever it is that you are doing. There is nothing more discouraging than just going through the motions in anything! If there is no belief that you will accomplish a certain thing, then odds are you won't be so motivated to do the required tasks.

Success will bring you motivation

Success will bring you motivation in anything that you set out to do. If you are doing something, such as working out to lose weight and you are not seeing any visible results, then your motivation will be lackluster to say the least. If you are doing something and you are seeing results, then odds are you will have more motivation to continue doing what ever it is to obtain your goal.

Keep your eye on what you want

What do you really want from whatever it is you are doing? If obtaining that thing excites and inspires you, then keep your mind focused on how you feel once you obtain that thing. We all want to live happier and fulfilled lives! We can do that by focusing on what makes us happy and then going after it. We find that we lack motivation when we see no visible evidence of getting any closer to what we want.

The trick is to find some evidence that you are experiencing success, whether big or small successes, along the way that will keep your motivation level high. When you are lacking that motivation that means you are taking your focus off of your successes and putting it on your failures. Whatever you focus on expands. If you focus on your failures, then you won't be motivated. If you focus on your success, then you will be motivated.

So if you are lacking motivation, simply shift your focus to things that are bringing you closer to what you want in life and your successes. You will find that by doing that you motivation level will always be through the roof!

Simple Ways On How To Live Your Best Life Now

Many people exercise self help. Rather than trying professional methods, people resort to trying to use their own personal thinking to eliminate problems in their lives and make themselves better people. The harder the personal problem, the harder it is to practice self help. If you wish to use self help to eliminate a problem, then read the advice in this article.

On your path to personal development, remember that your whole self is made of many parts. For example, if you have any chronic health conditions, remember that these can absolutely affect your mindset and perspective. If you take care of your body, your body will reward you with positivity.

Overcome your personal fears with action. Take baby steps into overcoming your fears to either diminish their hold on you or to completely eliminate them. Convince yourself that you can be more than just afraid of the fears, and that you can take steps to bypass them. You are not limited by them.

To keep your motivation strong, remember that comparing yourself to others is a counterproductive process. Everybody comes from a different standpoint, and your position in life is unique. This means that your successes are just that -- yours. You should have pride in what you have already accomplished and only allow yourself to be inspired by others, instead of feeling intimidated.

Gaining knowledge is one of the best ways you can help yourself grow as a person. There is nothing wrong with going to the library and checking out books or audio books that can help you feel better about yourself and have a positive outlook on your goals and life in general.

Distract yourself. If you are feeling overwhelmed and anxious, try to distract yourself from your problem. If there is nothing you can do about what is bothering you, obsessing is just going to make it worse. Instead, try to shift your attention to something interesting that you can actually enjoy.

For many people personal development conjures up images of long hours spent working on an MBA or studying something else. While this is one option it is also possible to work on other aspects that are more interesting like learning how to cook or working on other practical life skills.

Taking a yoga class or purchasing a yoga video can be a terrific way to boost your personal development. This ancient exercise includes strengthening, stretching, and a cardiovascular workout to make it an all around wonderful form. Additionally, you will gain mental clarity and focus while practicing yoga. Try yoga today.

Breaking a complicated or seemingly overwhelming task into smaller pieces can make it much more manageable. Don't make your goals too broad or vague. Break them down into specific, achievable pieces and work through these in an organized and disciplined fashion. Before long, you'll look up and realize you've climbed that mountain.

Be aware of what brings out the worst in you and alter it. Perhaps you only smoke when you are on break at work. Perhaps your next door neighbor always inspires you to procrastinate first thing in the morning by sharing gossip over the fence. You can't eliminate the breaks or the neighbor, of course, but you can change how you respond to each.

When it comes to personal development make sure that you stand up for what you believe in but that you do not inflict harm on yourself or others in the process. It is important to not be too dominant or powerful because you cannot lead if others are afraid of you.

If you are turning to self help remedies to help out with your depression, a great tip is to make an effort to enrich your relationship with family and friends. Often times, your life will feel more fulfilled when you have strong connections with many people and this is a great way to accomplish that.

When working on your personal development be sure to keep a positive attitude. It may seem hard as you are trying to improve things that you view as negative, but put a positive spin on it, as negativity will make it less likely that you will succeed in making the changes you want to make.

The first step to personal development is to have the determination to improve. Without the motivation and drive, you are not going to get very far. Set goals on which aspects you want to improve on and do not give up, not matter how hard it may seem.

As was mentioned in the introduction of the article, personal development is not an easy task. However, if you are knowledgeable about how to improve yourself in a healthy way, the process of personal development becomes much simpler. Follow the advice in this article and you will be on your way to self improvement and a positive well-being.

Motivation - Ability to Accept 100% Responsibility

Author: Michael Lowe

Simply by accepting the fact that our choices have created our conditions in life, there is a special power that instils us. Sure, there are certain things that may be beyond our control. Get an insight into the various things that can actually motivate you!

Every aspect of getting motivated involves, you! However, there is an unbelievable aspect which is common for each human being. The ability to shift blame from one person to another is something which has been going on since ages. Right from the earliest civilisations or even since the beginning of time when God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of a specific tree, this has been a prevalent aspect. It seems that over thousands of years we have changed very little. In fact, at the core of human nature resides an exceedingly great ability to shift blame. So often we feel quite justified to accuse the government, financial situation, company policy, society and even our spouse for our current state of affairs.

One thing is for sure: victims always pin their bad luck or personal misfortune on someone or something outside their own sphere of control. You can pick them the very moment you hear them say, "It's not my fault!" However, some people accept 100% responsibility for everyone else but themselves. It is important that you accept the entire responsibility of yourself. At the core level every successful individual believes that "I am where I am in life because this is where I chose to be!" Therefore, the first step in making your mission possible is to realise that "the buck stops here". That fact is that ultimately, we are responsible for what we do. Even if somebody's advice turns sour and causes us great pain, can we really blame them? While they may have given us bad advice, we took it!

Thus we are responsible for our present conditions. For instance, you see your current weight problem as something outside your sphere of control, then there's nothing you can do to change it. It's not your fault! You're just fat! However, if you want to bring your problem of being overweight as your own responsibility, you should just have the power to change it. The lesson here is that there are no such things as circumstances, there are only results.

"Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of men." - Benjamin Disraeli

Simply by accepting the fact that our choices have created our conditions in life, there is a special power that instils us. Sure, there are certain things that may be beyond our control, but just for a few moments, consider few of the things that you can choose. For instance, you can control:

• Your thoughts
• What you believe
• Your attitudes and behavior at any given time
• What words that you select and your tone of voice
• How you use your imagination
• Whether to act now or continue worrying

How Can I Get Motivated and Reach My Goals?

Did this ever happen to you? You set a goal and start to work like mad on it. A diet, a training program, to learn something new, you name it. But on your way you encounter obstacles that seem to be too big. Or you forget about the advantages you'd get from reaching your goal. Anyway, you drop your goal and rush for another one. In the end you have a long series of goals never reached. This happens to many people. Many people create goals and never reach them.

Why is this so? Paralysis, being overwhelmed? Doing lots of busy work but not approaching what you aiming at? Lack of dedication?

Most of the time when you drop your goal the reasons for this are not to be sought for externally. Most of the time the reasons are of psychological nature. For example fears. Fear of failure, fear of what others might say and think or even fear of success. You don't believe this? It happens more often than you would think. Unconsciously you don't think you are worth arriving at what you want.

Another reason might be that your goals are not specific enough and you wouldn't even know when you have reached the goal. "I want to lose weight" is such an example. When the scale shows a smaller figure than the day before you have reached the goal. You should rather formulate it like: "After such and such time I want to weigh between such and such."

Then there is poor time management and planning. You don't do what brings you closer to success. You read unimportant e-mails, have unimportant phone calls, do paperwork that has nothing to do with your goal. You should sort out what needs to be done for your normal living like going to work, shopping, doing the housework and so on. That stuff has to be done of course, but maybe you can outsource part of it. The rest of the time you can spend to work on your goals.

So what could be a remedy to all of this?

I recommend that before you set a goal you ask yourself a couple of questions:

Can I formulate my goal in a positive manner? This is sometimes very easy, for example to be able to run that distance in that time at that date. Or it can be very difficult, for example: "I want to give up smoking" or "I want to stop smoking in such time." Both are negative formulations and I can't think of a positive one.

Is this goal realistic? Loosing 20 kg within one week is certainly not a realistic goal neither is "I want to be able to run a marathon without any training." So please keep your goals realistic.

Set a timescale. You want to have reached the goal at that specific date or after that specific time interval. Be realistic here as well.

How does it feel to have reached my goal. Dream yourself in holding your diploma in your hands. Or just having finished your first marathon or achieving your dream weight or whatever. How does that feel, what would you see, hear, smell, taste. Be as realistic at this as you can.

How do I know when I have reached my goal. What do I see, hear, feel, smell, taste.

What do I have to give up by achieving my goal?
The above is a good starting point for reaching your goals. Than stick to it until you reach it.

The goals are on target towards personal development

Personal development can take on many forms, whether it be in connection with family matters, career aspirations, financial security, further education, or solutions to emotional and attitude problems. The sure fire way of concentrating the mind towards affecting your life ambitions, is the process of goal setting. This allows an overall positive perspective to be created, which will shape decision making, together with all the other aspects that are vital in reaching your targets.

It is important to know for yourself, exactly how far you want to go with your goals, for example: what level do you want to take your career to? What earnings are you aiming for and by what stage of your life do you want to achieve them? What kind, and to what depth of knowledge, do you need to attain in order to reach your objectives? Get the mindset sorted with regard to any, or all of these, and then it is all about your motivation driving you on. Being true to yourself is part of the battle, as too often people do what they think is expected of them, rather than following their own aspirations.

Goal setting will bring everything into focus, but these need to be of significance, meaning that they have to make a difference in the long run. There is little point setting a goal that fails to improve your current situation, you will only look back and wonder why you bothered. Therefore, relevance and attainability are key aspects to consider when deciding on the aims and objectives. Where ever possible, set the goals so that you are in control and not reliant upon second, or even third parties. They may not be as driven as yourself and unfortunately no matter how much you cajole them, they could end up being the stumbling block for you. However, if you do need assistance, this can play a part in your personal development, as it is an excellent test at your skills in persuasion, perseverance and management.

It is a good idea to give yourself small rewards, or treats along the way, after all you will have deserved it if you have achieved a deadline, and it will serve to build your confidence, which is vital if you are going to further yourself to the level you aspire to. All the way along, right the way up to the main goal, there should be smaller targets, but if any are reached earlier, or easier than originally suspected, then ensure that the next is more difficult. It is important to push yourself to the maximum, otherwise you are effectively cheating yourself. On the flip side, if it takes longer and is more tricky than anticipated, then make the next one slightly simpler, as too much struggle will quickly evaporate your positivity and drive.

They keys to keep in mind are to stay on course towards what you want to achieve in your life and separate anything that you consider to be irrelevant, or negative to your long term ambitions. Remain motivated, and thrive on the self-confidence that will improve rapidly, as you move towards your goal.

To achieve our ambitions personal development is vital. Self-confidence will play a huge part and goal setting along the way can help focus the mind, towards the ultimate objectives. Learn more about it on joshbellblog.com.

How to get motivated: 4 NLP strategies that work

Author: Anna Aparicio

/mo·ti·va·tion/

1. The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way

2. The general desire or willingness of someone to do something

3. *My own definition: the art of getting off your butt and getting stuff done

Because here is the thing: you may have a burning desire to do something, you may have the best will in the world, you may even know all the reasons why you should do it… but if you haven't done it yet, don't be surprised.

Getting motivated doesn't happen by coincidence or by miracle. Motivation is not something that some people have and others don't either. It is something we all do, consciously or unconsciously, everyday!

Motivation is not something you have or don't have; it is something you do

Take training, for example, notice I say training, and not exercising! We want to do it, we know it is good for us, we know it is going to make us look better and feel better… but after a hard day's work, when tiredness sets in, who would blame us for wanting to slouch on the couch and watch some TV while eating our favourite treat?

Well, think of taking a shower for a moment. Most of us do it every day. We don't wait until we are all stinky to clean ourselves. We do it because it is the right thing to do; it is time to take a shower.

We are able to do this because we have built up this good habit over the years through repetition. We do it at the same time, in the same place, following the same routine, which is so ingrained in our unconscious that we are barely aware of the process.

If you want to get to the point where your training routine goes as smoothly as your shower routine, start following the following NLP rules:

1# IDENTIFY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

Answer these questions:

What do you want specifically? When do you want it by? Where? With whom? What for? What will happen if you achieve that? What if you don't achieve that? Is it under your control? Is it worth it?

You see, when setting up goals, a lot of people do it wrong. They state what they want to have, not what they want to do; things like "I want to be slim", "I want a six pack" or "I want to have toned arms"… But, what do you want to do? Because it is as a result of you doing what you need to do that you will get to have what you want.

Your objective needs to be stated in a way that your brain understands it. And just like your computer, your brain needs 3 things: affirmative statements that are direct and very specific.

If you are just thinking it then it is not an objective, it is just a thought. So, put pen to paper and write your answers to the questions above.

If you don't know what you want, how will you know when you've got there?

 2# MAKE A PLAN

Again, if you don't have a plan, all you have is a lovely thought. I suggest you get yourself a diary, an excel sheet, a calendar, whatever works for you, and devise your personal strategy. A strategy to suit your lifestyle, your working schedule, etc…

Keeping the end result in mind, what is the first step you need to take in order for you to do what you need to do? And after that? What's next? Do you have all the resources you need (resources are materials, books, money, people…), or do you need help?

If it's going to take you 12 weeks to get a six pack, set a date and work backwards from there. If you want to lose a stone in 3 weeks, do the same. Break your objective into smaller, more achievable chunks, so that this week you know exactly what you are doing with regards to training and nutrition, and you can focus on just that. As I tell my clients, it's one week at a time, one day at a time.

You see, now you have more than just a nice thought; now you have a plan of action. And believe it or not, this is what most people lack. It's hard to get motivated if you don't know what you want to get motivated for!

And what are you going to do when you are tired, sad, in a mad mood, frustrated…? You must put strategies in place, so when that happens, and it will, you know exactly what to do. You have to become a bit of a ninja!

3# FIND OUT WHAT FIRES YOU UP

There are a lot of things that we need to or should do, but that doesn't mean we do them. So I want you to try on the following sentences, simply add what you want to be able to do at the end.

For example, if you want to go to the gym every day at 6pm for an hour, try these on. Say them out loud:

I should go to the gym – I need to go to the gym – I have to go to the gym – I'd better go to the gym -

I could go to the gym – I can go to the gym – I will go to the gym – I'm going to the gym

Do this a few times and notice which one creates the strongest feeling within you, like you want to go do it. You've just unlocked your personal motivational language. Make sure you use it from now on!

4# IMAGINE YOURSELF SUCCEEDING

One of the main functions of the brain is to prove itself right. So, whatever you focus on is magnified, as the brain thinks it is an objective of yours. Also, the brain doesn't know the difference between a vividly imagined memory and reality. This is why if you want to do something, it's vital you imagine yourself doing it like this (read this NLP resource fully before you do it):

Think of yourself doing the thing you want to do, training in the gym, or whatever. When you think about it you may notice the thought to be at a certain distance from you, a certain size, and in a certain place. Just make sure you see yourself in it, looking happy, positive and really enjoying what you are doing.

Now, imagine the thought getting bigger and bigger until it's almost panoramic. Make sure it's big, bold and colourful, maybe add some sound to it, and notice how good you feel.

Now, imagine you can float outside of your body and into yourself in the image, so you can see through your eyes, hear through your ears and feel how good it feels to be doing what you are doing and loving it too! Intensify everything even more, so the colours are brighter, the sounds louder and the feelings stronger.

Now, tell yourself in your most motivating voice "Go For It!"

Now, take a deep breath through the nose and magnify the feelings so you feel even more motivated!

Repeat 3 times, first sitting down, and then standing up, and notice how you feel even more motivated!

It's vital that you build a propulsion system that makes you feel good and look forward to doing the things you want to do, so that you want to do them more and more. This is how you get to build up new more useful habits to last you a lifetime.

I've just shared 4 motivational strategies with you,  that when you use them, they will help you get more stuff done and achieve more, faster. They can be applied in any area of your life. These strategies have helped transform some of my clients from couch potatoes into fitness freaks, so good luck to you!

Why Getting Motivated Is Simple by Alice Hive

I sometimes meet people who tell me that they're "just never motivated". It's like they're hoping that motivation falls from the sky and hits them on their heads before they finally start doing something.

Some even listen to CDs and read motivational books but they just never take action. They have hundreds of apologies for why they can't be motivated - as if motivation was something very difficult.

However, motivation isn't difficult. Motivation is simple. Not necessarily easy but simple. But before I explain to you how to get motivated, let's think about what the word "motivation" literally means.

The English word "motivation" originates from the Latin word "movere". "Movere" means "to move". "Motum" is the past participle and means "moved". That's also where the word "motion" comes from.

Being motivated literally means "being moved" or "being in motion".
So the key to motivation is to be in movement.
Now, what does that mean?

Just like I said before, it's simple. In order to be motivated you have to be already in motion = You have to do something at first so you can get motivated.
So, this is the big question:
How can you do something when you're not motivated in the first place?
And this is simple, as well: Start small.

Get Your Thoughts Moving
Think about what you want to do. What are the reasons you want to do it? What will be the reward? How is it going to change your life and the life of others? What will it be like when you have achieved your goal? How are you going to do it? What are the (baby) steps that you need to take? What is the next step? What are you going to do?
Let your mind start working on your goal.

Get Your Feelings Moving
Examine your feelings. How are you going to feel when you have achieved your goal? How is the process of "doing" going to feel like? How will it feel when the world appreciates and rewards your work?
Use the power of visualization to create an inner film in which you play out the details of your success. Fill your head and heart with pictures of glory, joy, peace, success, health and wealth. The more good feelings you can associate with accomplishing your goals the better.

Why are you getting motivated when you read books and listen to speeches about motivation? Because the speakers and authors are moving your thoughts and emotions in the direction of action.

However, if moving your thoughts and feelings is all that you do, you will achieve nothing. Now it's time to actually do something.

Start Small
Start as small as you have to. Bring out some trash. Answer an email. Cook a healthy meal. Do 10 push-ups. Write a short blog post. Take a shower. Make a phone call. Do your first baby step. Do whatever you feel you can do.

Continue Bigger
Excellent! You have done something. Now do more. Do something that is a little bigger. Do 20 push ups. Write a long blog post. Clear out your email inbox. Make a more difficult phone call. Clean your bathroom. Do your second baby step. Go on!

Keep Building Momentum
After having done a few things you will already feel more motivated. Of course - because now you're "in motion".

You will always have to get over some resistance when you do something more difficult so don't expect any miracles. But at least it's easier to do something hard when you already built the momentum for it.

The more difficult/hard things you do the more power you will have to do even more difficult/harder things. That's the reason why personal development experts often choose to begin their day with doing something scary/hard first thing in the morning. After checking this task off their to do lists, they will feel proud and motivated for the rest of the work day.

Motivation doesn't fall from the sky, you have to do something for it. You will need to exert power to get to the next motivational level and you will have to be brave. You will have to get out of your comfort zone. But be patient with yourself if you don't get from 0 to 100 in a short period of time. Managing your motivational level is just another skill that you will learn with time. So if you don't get to 100% today although you've done quite a few things, I won't let you use it as an apology. Just keep up the good work!

A Beginners Guide To Subliminal Self Help

With the growth of the Internet more and more people are looking to self help products to help take control of their lives and enhance themselves. The main thing which has lead to this is because the Internet can be completely confidential. People are able to read up on their awkward problems which they probably wouldn't want to share with their friends. Confidentiality is important in self help, but there is a new method of development which is taking this even further - which is self help subliminal messages

Using subliminal audio for self help means that you can develop yourself completely confidentially. The messages enter your mind naturally and there aren't any audible words so if anyone else was to find your albums they still would not know what they were for.

How Subliminal Messages Work

Subliminal audio is basically a form of hypnosis. In terms of the end result - a positive outcome and a change within the mind - they both come to the same result. Just as hypnosis works by bypassing your conscious mind, so too do subliminal messages. The big variation being that rather than going into a deep trance like state for 30 minutes you play subliminal album passively as you do other things.

You won't consciously hear anything, however the subliminal statements will still make their way into your subconscious mind, and as they build up there this leads to changes from the inside, which grow and grow to produce external lasting changes too. Some people do experience very quick changes, but generally it takes a couple of after which you will see the improvements build up to produce a long lasting change in your thoughts, beliefs, and your physical behaviour.

The main use of subliminal messages has been for personal development and self help reasons. Traditionally getting used for areas such as thinking positive and increasing your motivation, but as their usage has grown so has the array of areas they cover, It is now possible to get albums on quite niche areas like albums to help you overcome your fear of success or even to help you to stop self pity

Subliminal messaging is still not right for everyone, if you think you are going to be able to just put an album on and instantly change then think again. However, if you are serious about wanting to make a change in your life then subliminal audio will give you a boost.
