Techniques on How to Meditate for Beginners

by Neeraj Sharma

How to meditate properly is perhaps one of the most common ordeals of those who are beginners in meditation. How to meditate for beginners is actually not that hard as long as you know where to start and what specific steps to follow. When it comes to meditation, it is crucial that we keep in our minds that it is not the odd New Age activity that most of us think of it. Meditation does not necessarily involve having to head to Eastern parts of the world and travel up to the mountains, purely eat vegetables or be in a specific religion to practice it. Meditation is merely an instrument that helps us be ourselves and get in touch with a deeper sense of who we are. It is a great way for us to see the kind of life that we lead and how it unfolds before us and how we can allow things or people that come in our way to influence us. As a beginner in meditation, one must be aware that it has three fundamental concepts: mindfulness, practice and tranquility.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness in the context of meditation is actually an ancient Buddhist practice that has significant relevance in our day to day life. It may an ancient Buddhist practice but you do not have to be in Buddhism to follow it. Mindfulness means paying close attention and being sensitive of the things happening in and around us. When it comes to practicing mindfulness, you can practice it by placing your focus on purpose and the present moment without passing judgment. This may seem such a simple practice but it is said to be the very heart of meditation and is what helps in cultivating consciousness, clarity and acceptance of the reality of life.

Breathing Pattern
In meditation, breathing is a very important component because this is how promotion of relaxation can happen. There is the breath awareness meditation where it requires an individual to stay in one full inhale as it comes in and one full exhale as breath is released. During these moments, it is important to keep the mind open and free. Letting go of all thoughts and ideas is crucial in order to really be able to achieve a higher state of consciousness. When you feel that your mind starts to wander, you can slowly bring back your focus to your breathing and connect the moments of mindfulness altogether as you take in each breath.

Samadhi
The word Samadhi is actually the Sanskrit word which means concentration or literally "single-pointedness". This is actually a type of meditation where you bring your whole focus to an object or to your breathing and you need to focus deeply into awareness of the object. This is actually one of the most commonly practiced types of meditation that even beginners can use it. Through regular practice, the mind is able to become more proficient in concentration and focus and Samdhi is also a very calming and pleasant type of meditation. When you do a Samdhi meditation, you may want to try of thinking of a candle flame for starters or any object that will not tempt your thoughts to wander and distract you.

To learn to meditate London is not really that hard to do. The important thing in meditation in London is you are able to direct your focus and energy to really learn about it and not get easily frustrated along the way.

5 life-changing meditation skills and how to grow them

Meditation is one of the most powerful things you can do to transform your life for the better!

No matter what you desire, inner skills are essential to get you there. Why is that? It's because, the results in your life are directly related to your inner
state--your intentions, thoughts, and feelings--and how these inspire you to take action.

What you bring to life from the inside determines what you receive from life on the outside. To change your life in the direction you desire, you must align
your inner state with what you truly want. You can achieve this through meditation.

Let's talk about five inner skills that you develop through meditation practice. Developing these skills may be the single most important thing you can do
to become a powerful co-creator in your life.

Let's look at some of the many benefits of developing your inner skills through meditation:

* Stress reduction and deep relaxation,
* Better health and immune function,
* Deeper connection to "who you are" and "what you are here to do,"
* The ability to let go of what no longer serves you
* The ability to release negative states, past pain, and worry about the future
* Attunement to inner guidance so you sense your best next step
* Relaxed confidence and enthusiasm for where you are headed
* Improved communication and ease in your relationships, and
* Empowerment to live your dreams and achieve peak performance.

Let's explore the five essential skills of meditation that give you these benefits.

1. Self-observation: When you meditate, you learn to witness your intentions, thoughts, feelings, sensations, and experiences without being caught up in,
identified with, attached to, or overwhelmed by them.

You come to understand that you have intentions, thoughts, feelings, sensations, and experiences, but these do not define who you are. You are responsible for your actions, but these do not define you either. You are "something else" altogether. You are a witnessing presence who can inhabit anything.

Self-observation also enables you to understand inner cause and effect--how your intentions, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions shape your life experiences. As you better understand inner cause and effect you can more effectively step into your life experiences to shift them in line with what you truly desire.

2. Detachment: As you observe yourself on the inside, the attitude you take toward yourself is absolutely important. In meditation, you learn to be honest with yourself and gentle with yourself. You learn to recognize and accept whatever you see without judging it as "good" or "bad."

You learn to witness everything without attaching yourself to it, without thinking that anything makes you worthy or unworthy. You are perfect just the way you are. It's interesting that when you realize that, you initiate the most positive inner change. In meditation, you release your self-judgments and clear your mental filters, so you experience life in a more relaxed, inclusive, fluid, and joyous way.

Detachment enables you to let go of that which no longer serves you so you can act in a way which expresses your authentic path, essence, and purpose. Detachment actually enables you to experience life more richly and directly by releasing the negative thoughts and "bad" feelings that interfere with your ability to be present and enjoy with what is happening now.

3. Discernment: As you clear the clutter of self-judgment, past pain, and worries about the future, you open up to present opportunities and sense inner guidance that tells you how to act on them. You improve your ability to intuit your authentic path. You become tuned into using your inner body to sense what you are here to do now. You also learn to sense what is "off track" from your authentic path. Meditation develops mental precision and the ability to discern fine detail.

4. Choice: As you witness inner cause and effect, you come to understand that by choosing different intentions, thoughts, feelings, and actions you can have different experiences.

Through meditation you also discover a natural, relaxed, positive, clear, and coherent state of being that is always available to you--a Core Energy State. You learn that you can access this powerful state no matter what is happening around you. The more familiar you become with this state, the more easily you'll recognize when you've wandered away from it--and you'll have the inner skills to return to it.

Shifting to a Core Energy State is like shifting into your home frequency, your most essential vibration, and to what is aligned with that. From a Core Energy State you will more easily choose your best intentions. You will more easily follow your authentic path by choosing to grow your unique gifts and talents to share them with others.

Check out this guided meditation exercise to help you shift into a Core Energy State:

5. Focus in this Moment: Finally and, perhaps, most importantly, meditation develops your ability to stick to your choices in the present moment, especially when challenges arise. You'll be empowered to choose where you're coming right now and to manage your energy and attention, so that you realize what you truly desire.

Not only will you know what is right for you, but you'll be able to maintain your positive focus in the face of whatever comes your way. In that way, you become a conscious participant in the creation of your life rather than a victim of circumstances thrown about by the conditions of life.

The key to focus is to stay in this moment. Meditation trains you to be present with what is happening now rather than being distracted by the pains of the past
or worries about the future. You'll learn to calmly center yourself in your body and clearly sense what Life is guiding you to do right now.

Through meditation you learn to appreciate the perfection in what is actually happening, so you more deeply enjoy our life. When each of us discover and
share that love of life, that inner spark, we all change for the better.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to check out my Core Energy Meditation program

And above all....

Enjoy your practice!

Practicing the Power of Now - 5 Simple Strategies To Get Into The Present

By Lorna Kring

In Eckhart Tolle's seminal book, The Power of Now, he identifies the greatest obstacle to experiencing enlightenment as being that of "identification with your mind, which causes thought to become compulsive" - this compulsive thinking is what creates the barriers to experiencing our natural state of inner peace and connection with God as well as creating a false egoic sense of self that seems to live in a state of fear and suffering. The solution he offers to free ourselves from the compulsive thoughts of mind is, of course, practicing the power of now.

But what exactly is the power of now? According to A Course in Miracles "Fear is not of the present, but only of the past and future, which do not exist.... And the present extends forever. It is so beautiful and so clean and free of guilt that nothing but happiness is there. No darkness is remembered, and immortality and joy are NOW." (Emphasis is mine.) So, this power of the present instant, now, is the release from fear which allows us to access our own conscious, higher presence. It is the release from identification with our mind; our past conditioning and self-concepts, beliefs, limitations, judgements and guilt - our sense of self as being small, separate and vulnerable. It's freedom from the delusional belief that you are your mind. And freedom from creating the future in the mold of the past.

Mr. Tolle states that learning to dis-identify from mind as the single most vital step in the journey toward enlightenment. It is the process of changing our perception about ourselves, our relations to others, to God and to life itself; it is liberating ourselves from the tyranny of addictive, destructive thinking and all of the ensuing effects and emotional turmoil that leave us in a state of perpetual conflict and personal grief.

Practicing the power of now is the systematic removal of self-imposed blocks to knowing and experiencing our deeper truth that we are spiritual beings on a physical plane and, as such, is a powerful tool for consistently living a life of joy, significance and fulfillment. The practices offered in his book are drawn from a variety of spiritual teachings giving us a buffet of strategies that can be suitably tailored to meet individual needs, and all are flexible enough to be adapted to serve the demands of a busy lifestyle.

Following are five simple strategies to maximize your efforts when applying the processes outlined in the Power of Now:

- when "watching the thinker" it is crucial to remain detached from the thoughts that you're watching. Becoming engaged in judging your thoughts, analyzing them, labeling them or trying to change them while observing is simply another antic of the ego mind to move you out of the present moment. Being there as the observer is enough to loosen the mental grip of identifying with the thinker and will begin to create space for Presence.

- many find practicing "present moment awareness" difficult in the beginning; if you find agitation arising, try placing your focus on following your breath. Make no attempt to regulate or change your breathing, simply note all of the sensations as they come into your field of awareness... the feel of the air going in and out of your nostrils, the movement of your chest and abdomen, the fragrance in the air, the depth or shallowness of your breath, etc.

- "feeling your emotions" from within the inner energy field of your body can be quite a challenge as we're trained from an early age that certain feelings, such as anger, doubt, weakness or confusion are "bad"; and we develop beliefs that having these feelings then makes us personally "bad". Allow yourself to become conscious of the tendency to bolt, or run away, from feeling these emotions - instead of bolting, try giving these emotions some space and attention. Acknowledge them, allow them to be and recognize that you are more than the sum of your emotions and thoughts, negative or positive.

- "acceptance" of the present moment is a key to dissolving resistance, but not always an easy task. If you find your mind dictating how things "should" be, realize that your acceptance does not mean they have to stay this way - accepting and allowing the present moment to be as it is will free up tremendous energy to give to inspired actions on making the necessary changes to improve your situation.

- "dissolving the pain body" is another practice that can raise the specter of fear in our minds. When observing the pain body at work, ask yourself what the purpose is of engaging in this painful mental activity; initially, your egoic mind may come up with surface reasons such as "I'm right, they're wrong" or "I/they deserve it" but if you persist in questioning its purpose and take your attention deeper, you'll recognize the only purpose is to create more pain for yourself. At this point, you've broken your identification with the pain body and can now release your attachment to it. Asking empowering questions about what we believe and why we believe certain thoughts about our identity will lead to the recognition that most of our limiting beliefs are assumptions we've adopted from our parents, school and society and have nothing to do with who you are in Truth - when you let go of these restrictive assumed beliefs, life begins to flow and grow in ways miraculous!

In practicing the power of now, as with learning any new skill, daily application and persistence are attributes that will help push you through the challenges of reconditioning your thought processes - do whatever it takes to get over the hump because each and every one of us is worth the consistent effort necessary for effective change, both personally and for the greater good of all.

A powerful technique to dissolve stress and increase joy

How would you like an easy technique that you can use anytime to release your stress, feel more joy and connect to your Inner Guidance?

I call this "Inner Smiling" and it is a very powerful way to connect to the healing power of your heart.

You can use the technique I'm about to show you to quickly reduce stress, improve your health and immune response, stay calm in the midst of chaos, and connect with inner clarity and intuitive guidance.

("Inner Smiling" is actually a key part of Core Energy Meditation - a truly holistic meditation practice that balances your three major energy centers - mind, heart and body. Full details on that Program here: http://EnergyMeditationSecrets.com/program.html )

The basis of Inner Smiling is actively self-generating acceptance, gratitude, care, and trust. Here are some of the benefits of Inner Smiling.

It can lower your blood pressure, calm your nervous system, improve hormone balance, improve your brain function, and give a positive feeling of well-being.

These effects begin by bringing heart rhythms into balance. This facilitates coherent brainwaves and integrated whole brain function. Generating an inner
smile also brings your parasympathetic nervous system online, which is your relaxation and recovery mode.

When your "relaxation response" is active, your levels of muscle tension decrease, your digestive system receives more blood for doing its job well, and your immune system gets the energy it needs to function at a peak level.

Your higher level brain functions also come online. This is in contrast to when you feel fear and stress, which actually shuts down your higher brain functions.

As your body relaxes, you decrease production of the stress hormone, cortisol, and increase production of DHEA, which regulates your body's ability to heal and repair itself. Pretty exciting stuff!

Not to mention it feels pretty darn good too!

So, how do you practice Inner Smiling?

Here are four simple steps:

1. Close your eyes and take several slow deep breaths.

2. Imagine that you are breathing in and out through your heart to focus your attention there.

3. Smile into your heart with acceptance, appreciation, gratitude, and care.

4. Imagine and feel your Inner Smile expanding from your heart to infuse every cell in your body.

To help you generate Inner Smiling in your heart and your body as a whole, you can bring to mind someone whom you care for unconditionally, such as your parent, spouse, child, or pet. Or recall something that you love to do or someone who makes you smile.

Bring your appreciation for those people, pets, or events, into your heart and then send it outward into your whole body.

If you find this challenging at first, you might spend a little extra time focusing on breathing deeply in and out through your heart. Allow any feelings of tension or irritation to dissolve in your breath.

Then, imagine someone or something you effortlessly appreciate or simply accept yourself and whatever is happening unconditionally. Be grateful for "what is."

Just putting a subtle smile on your lips may be enough to bring an Inner Smile into your body. Inner Smiling is a doorway to feeling your inner essence and
transforming your life from the inside out.

Enjoy your practice!

3 easy ways to quiet your mind (and feel more joy)

Are you aware of a dominant feeling that runs like an undercurrent through your life?

Or maybe it's more of a subtle background state that seems to color everything that you say, do, and feel?

Maybe it's a persistent feeling that you have when you wake up in the morning?

(For example, you might feel a constant pressure to be busy and get things done. You might feel anxious about what the day might bring. You might feel confused or depressed about your prospects and possibilities.)

What if you could feel peaceful, positive, and clear?

Let me show you three simple ways you can bring that soothing power into your life.

How you feel in your life has a lot to do with what's going on in your head. If you constantly hear thoughts telling you that "Life is a struggle," "The economy is bad," and "You aren't enough," these have a powerful impact on how you feel.

These thoughts are like a proverbial "dark cloud hanging over you."

One of the defining moments of awakening is when you discover that you "are not" the thoughts you are "having." You witness the incessant chatter that drives you, distracts you, and seems like your constant companion and you realize that you don't have to be defined by that.

At that moment, you realize that those words in your head really have little to do with you. They also don't reflect what is actually happening in the world. You come to recognize that a majority of those words are just recorded messages from the past, the limiting thoughts of others, and random sounds from your environment.

Nevertheless, they are broadcasting through your head.

At that moment, you may get a strong urge to turn off that chatter, or at least turn down the volume, so it is less distracting. The truth is--you can learn to do just that.

And it doesn't have to take years of practice, just a little guiding of your attention. Here are a few simple ways to turn down the mental volume and quiet your mind. I encourage you to try them out as you read them.

Instead of just reading the words, pause at each one, and actually give it a try. You may be surprised at how effective they are. The great thing is, they take just a few moments.

3 Ways to Quiet Your Mind

1. See if you can listen to the chatter as an outside observer. See if you can separate "who you are" from those words in your head. Listen to them with an attitude of amused curiosity. Smiling while you do this can help.

Allow the words to come and go through your mind without hanging onto any of them. Just watch them come and go. You could say, "Hey, they're just thoughts; they don't define me or what I can do." As you give your thoughts less importance, they lose their grip on your attention.

Take a minute to observe your mental chatter with a smile.

Here's a guided audio that can help you:

2. Focus on something else. If you become completely immersed in paying attention to something besides your thoughts, you'll notice that your mind quiets down.

For example, place your hands on your abdomen and become aware of your breathing. See if it's possible to notice the moment when your inhale begins; follow your in-breath all the way through to a natural pause; notice the moment your exhale begins; follow that all the way through to a natural pause--and repeat.

Become absolutely interested in following your breathing as if nothing else matters at this moment. Within a few breathing cycles, your mind quiets. Try it for yourself.

3. Ask yourself the question: "Who is thinking?" Then sit and be content that you really have no answer for that.

Don't try to make up an answer. Just notice how your mind becomes quiet in the face of that question. Try it for yourself and see what happens.

Those are three great ways to get a taste of a quieter mind -- a mind that isn't consumed by incessant thinking, and, therefore, comes to rest in a natural peace.

As you get a taste of that, you may discover that you want to experience more of it--you want to go deeper and have the experience stay with you longer.

If so, I strongly recommend you get my Core Energy Meditation Program. It's the only truly holistic meditation practice that soothes and integrates all dimensions of your being - mind, heart, body and spirit.

Soon a quiet mind can become your dominant background state and your life can feel so much more peaceful, positive, and clear.

Enjoy your practice!

3 Tips For Successful Meditation

Meditation Tips No. 1: Time & Habits
When meditation was imported into the West, the myth of the 20 minute meditation was borne. This short amount of time made the task of selling meditation easier, and it formed a part of the packaging which encouraged Western people to try it.

In fact, there is no prescribed set-in-stone duration for meditation, just the simple common sense view that like anything else, the more you practice the greater the benefits will be. As a rule of thumb, anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour per meditation session, will be very beneficial to your physical and mental health. Sitting in meditation for longer than an hour is normally only done in special retreats, as it can damage the joints of the body by doing so repeatedly.

Initially the key objective, is to form the habit of meditating on a daily basis. That way the benefits can accrue regularly through time, and you will carry on meditating whether you happen feel like it or not, on any given day.

By committing to a daily meditation practice, it will become like brushing your teeth, or going to sleep; you don't think about it anymore - you just do it. This may well take some mental effort for the first few months, until your daily meditation habit is established.

The best time of day for meditation is very much up to you and your life-style. Some people find early in a morning ideal while the day is fresh and their minds are relatively quiet. For others, the end of the day suits them most and it relaxes them for a good night's sleep. If you do two meditation sessions per day, then a morning and an evening time session would be ideal.

Meditation Tips No. 2: Thoughts
Some meditation methods give the impression that one of the purposes of meditation is to stop thinking. And this approach can lead some people who try meditation to feel as if they have failed, because there is always one (or often several dozen) more thoughts appearing in their mind, when they do their meditation practice.

The thing to understand is that your mind is where your thoughts manifest themselves, and it's perfectly normal to find them there.

The real aim of meditation, as far as thoughts are concerned, is to notice their arising and passing away without getting caught up in their flow. And through this observing process, you will become aware that you, the Observer, are not your thoughts. And that your thoughts turn out to be as transitory as passing clouds on a windy day.

If you do find yourself getting caught up in a stream of thoughts, just notice this has happened, and then come back to your object of meditation.

If you were to take the trouble to count the number of thoughts you have in a week, and I'm not suggesting you do, it would probably come to several thousand.

So here you are, sitting in meditation minding your own business, when thought 7,209 of this week appears. What do you do? Run after it like you are a puppy following anything that moves, like it's the most important, amazing thought that you have had this year? Like these thoughts control you?

No. You observe each thought as it arises and passes away, as you would a plane in the sky, or the sound of a passing car. You don't mentally run after a plane or a car, and you don't mentally run after your thoughts.

And, in time, in dawns on you. Thoughts are just an endless stream transient inner impressions, largely based on what happened today, at work, or what I saw on the TV, or what a friend said etc.

And with daily meditation practice, your thoughts will begin to quieten down, from a lack of your attention and your lack of interest in them. Then you can experience great inner peace and tranquility.

A peace and tranquility which is always there, only without meditation, it is obscured by the activities of your thinking machine.

Meditation Tips No. 3: Conscious Experience
Meditation, contemplation and self-reflection, whatever you chose to call it, is a very natural activity for consciously aware beings such as ourselves. And meditation techniques can be very straightforward for us to learn and to apply.

However, there are a few common difficulties we can encounter in our practice of meditation.

1. The first of these is fear of what might happen, or could happen to you. Or, perhaps, the meditation process does begin to transform you and you are now afraid of losing friends because you've started change your interests and your priorities.

2. Another common difficulty, are your expectations of what you should be experiencing. Maybe you have read stories of yogis and their amazing mental feats. Or perhaps you have heard accounts of altered states of consciousness being achieved through meditation, and you expect to achieve these easily.

3. Or it could be that you over analyse your experiences and you become over judgmental of how you are doing, compared to some imagined ideal person you have read about in a book.

All of these difficulties are false-hoods that you are laying on yourself, which are making your meditation way more difficult and challenging than it needs to be.

The 'knack' to meditation, if there is such a thing, is to lay to one-side your fears, expectations, judgments and analysis, and to simply enjoy the meditative experience. It is what it is, on any given day.

In some ways, that is what mediation is all about, the conscious experience of being alive in the moment. And within that simple experience, is the elegant beauty of your unfolding life.

The Magic of Your Subconscious Mind

By: Kate Corbin

“There is a gold mine within you from which you can extract everything you need to live life gloriously, joyously, and abundantly.” – Joseph Murphy

After 30 + years of knowing that thoughts become things, I feel as if I’ve just picked up a HUGE piece of the How-To-Get-What-You-Want puzzle. I now realize that harnessing the extraordinary power of the subconscious mind is a significant part of deliberate creation.

Your subconscious mind is the gold mine referred to in the Joseph Murphy quote above. And what a gold mine it is! Your subconscious mind is directly linked to the quantum field of infinite possibilities. It’s one with infinite intelligence and boundless wisdom. It’s where intuition comes from. It’s where inspiration for scientific discoveries, great inventions, artistic masterpieces, and music that moves your soul comes from. This is the field of pure potential where everything is possible and YOU get to choose.

If you think of the conscious brain as the captain of the ship, then the subconscious brain would be the entire ship’s crew. Dreams, goals, plans and desires are hatched in the conscious part of the brain, but it’s the subconscious part of the brain that executes these plans. Your subconscious mind works non-stop according to the programs it has been given.

With three simple steps, you can this very day begin reprogramming your subconscious mind so that it works to bring you what you DO WANT rather than what you DON’T WANT:

(1) Meditate. Meditation raises your vibration, releases resistance and trains your brain to focus. It enables you to tap into the quantum soup of infinite consciousness. Simply get still, quiet the wheels of your mind, and enter into a sleepy, drowsy state. In this relaxed, receptive state, you’re ready to plant the seed of your desire in the fertile ground of your subconscious mind.

(2) Visualize. When you visualize and imagine the fulfillment of your desire, you create a neural network within your brain that corresponds to your desire. Visualize the experience you desire with great clarity and emotion, making the images vivid and real.

(3) Affirm. The best affirmations are bold, clear, positive, and stated in the present tense. As with visualization, when you repeat affirmations of your desires as if you’re living them now, you establish new neural pathways in your subconscious brain. Continue to affirm your desires and feel the reality of living your dreams, completely disregarding any evidence to the contrary.

“The great secret possessed by the great men of all ages was their ability to contact and release the powers of their subconscious mind. You can do the same.” – Joseph Murphy

As you meditate, visualize and affirm, you systematically impress your desires onto the power center of your subconscious mind as a new set of instructions and the infinite power of the quantum field sets about to bring your vision into physical reality.

As you harness the Magic of Your Subconscious Mind, you’ll be able to access the gold mine within you and extract an abundance of love, joy, freedom, empowerment, and prosperity – anything and everything your heart desires.

Meditation Techniques Can Help You Find Inner Peace by Torrel Butler

It is very easy to become stressed when you work a great deal of the time. In many homes, only one person can find a job, so that person has to work very hard to make ends meet. Sometimes too much work, lack of exercise, and added problems can manifest themselves in mental and physical conditions. However, there are things that you can do to help ease some of the tensions that can accumulate in your life. Concentration meditation techniques can help you feel better physically and mentally.

Concentration Method For Mental Exercise

In this mental exercise, you sit in a comfortable position. One of the best positions is with legs crossed on the floor. If you have tile or hardwood flooring, it may be best to sit on some kind of pad. Personal comfort is also very important in this exercise.

As you sit, close your eyes and relax. Try not to think of anything for a few minutes. After you feel yourself relaxing, concentrate on something in the room. It can be any object that you wish to focus your attention on. Many people find it is easier to concentrate on something when it is placed on the floor, a few feet from them.

Sit and focus on the object of your concentration. Study it very carefully and notice details about it. Close the eyes again and rest them for a minute or so. Repeat this a few times, until you feel totally relaxed.

Open your eyes again and softly or slowly concentrate on the object. Try very hard not to blink your eyes, but you will need to blink them periodically, to keep them from drying out. Devote your full attention to the object and you will notice that everything else in the room is changing.

Like a camera that is focused on a certain thing, the background will begin to fade away and slowly blur. Do not become alarmed when this happens, as it is perfectly normal. Continue to concentrate until the only thing left is the object. Try to stay in this state of mind as long as you can.

When you make everything else disappear, you will feel a calmness wash over you. After a while, close your eyes and rest for several minutes. Many people report a feeling of renewed energy from this exercise. Repeat this exercise often, whenever you feel stressed or anxious.

Meditation techniques can help to bring calmness and alleviate problems associated with stress. One important technique is the Concentration Method. As you focus on one particular object, everything else in the room will disappear. With many people, stress and problems will also disappear for a while. Repeat this exercise, whenever you want a break from problems and stressful situations.
