Getting Into The Right Mindset for Setting and Achieving Goals

Getting Into The Right Mindset for Setting and Achieving Goals

By Erlinda Shen

If you want to be really successful in setting and achieving goals, then you need to develop the right habits and mindset that will keep you on track. There are too many habits and details to mention, so let's focus on the main habits that you need for setting and achieving goals.

Work Your Tail Off for Setting and Achieving Goals

There will be early daybreaks and late nights. You will be spent. You will question why you began in the first place. Yet, you will keep working hard for setting and achieving goals. Remember, there is no single notable person ever who soared to great heights in life without working like a slave. Massive action means performing better, studying more and suffering more than anyone. You have to understand the importance of delayed gratification and own it. Start by nailing down essential tasks, changing your schedule, recording tasks and functions of the day and finding the right people and resources that can assist you. Keep in mind that you have to be as independent as possible to finish more in the long term.

Disciplined Consistency and Consistently Disciplined for Setting and Achieving Goals

Discipline is what separates the leaders from the followers. If you genuinely want to change your life, if you want to up your game, you must produce even if you are tired, while being excellent each and every time. OK, maybe not totally excellent, but at least be consistently good. Notice I did not say you have to be perfect. Aiming for perfection only slows you down and is often an excuse for procrastination. You have to take action, all the time, every time. Your goal is depending on you. Don't let it down.

Discipline and consistency go hand in hand, because discipline breeds consistency. If you keep going, if you aim to complete your everyday tasks, if you keep taking action, you will find it gets easier and easier. Then, something interesting happens. You start to change as a human being. You learn and do new things, and therefore become different by default. You become better. You become more YOU.

Proud Graduate of the School of Hard Knocks

When working on your goals, you will hit a wall more times than you care to count, perhaps even literally. People close to you may think you have gone demented. You may lose some pals. You may take criticism from people who have given up on life and expect you to give up on yours. The thick skinned individual always prevails in setting and achieving goals. Also learn from your errors and turn these into more productive actions next time. Learn to pick yourself up after each fall and put in double effort to become better. The most successful people, as well as those who truly left a mark in history, are known to have faced big difficulties and resistance before others understood their inner genius that brought about innovation and change the world had never seen.

Smile, SMILE Gosh Darnit!

I flex my smile muscle many times a day, even when I don't feel like smiling. Why? It helps to get me into a confident state of mind. It is also scientifically proven to work. I read inspirational quotes, watch motivational videos on YouTube and train daily in the act of optimism. Optimism takes practice. Here's a good tip: The next time a problem seems so big and scary that it threatens to swallow you up, fight it with knowledge. Get on the Internet and do research. Slay that dragon by learning its loopholes, it weaknesses and shortcuts. It might help to believe in the powers of the Universal Law of Attraction which draws opportunities toward you just the way you specify to, and in the right intensity as you sought after.

Finally, Have Patience

Some goals are very big and will take time to accomplish. Break them down into smaller goals. Do not allow yourself to think that some goals are just too huge to be possible. Be specific and set goals that are attainable to your current situation and start working to achieve those. Patience is the partner that silently keeps you going, even when you feel you are about to give up. Sometimes patience is the biggest, but quietest factor in the game of setting and achieving goals.

How to Build Self Esteem the Easy Way

How to Build Self Esteem the Easy Way by Lynn Errickson

Self-esteem is a state of mind. It can fill you with happiness, cheer, and assurance. It can also make you feel awful about yourself. Self-esteem is like a battery. When the battery is charged, your self esteem is higher and you feel great; when the battery is lower, you feel crummy.

So exactly how do you establish this self-belief in yourself? Do not even start to think that self-belief is self-importance. They are certainly not the same. It is more like conceit which, of course, does not lead to individual success.

The right solution is to have self confidence. This implies that you see yourself as good and capable as anyone else, no better or much worse, you are proud of who you are, and you approach everything with a beneficial outlook.

To do this you need to find out that you need to accept yourself unconditionally. You will have strengths and weak points, and you will certainly have success and failures. You should learn to accept those truths. This is just what confidence is about - truth in yourself.

It is necessary to not let your blunders or failures overpower you, and ruin your happiness. You need to accept your mistakes and just keep going. Any time you do not acknowledge your blunders, you lose some of your self confidence and esteem.

The majority of people acquire a ton of happiness from their accomplishments. Their confidence rises; they feel like they can complete anything. However, the exact same confidence can easily fall when that man or woman is miscalculates. This can easily trigger that individual to feel unhappy and undesirable, and can easily eat away at his or her confidence until they are incredibly unhappy. Plus it will impact other parts of their lives - and not for the better!

In order to improve your confidence, you have to be fair to yourself. Do not beat yourself up when you make some type of mistake. It can easily cause depression and overwhelming sense of guilt if you do. Don't judge yourself harshly - try not to judge yourself at all. Just keep going and your self esteem will continue to build.

How To Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is unfortunately something that a lot of us suffer from regularly, whether it's just an occasional ‘put off ‘til tomorrow' or a recurrent lack of drive and motivation. Procrastination can often hold us back from what we really want in life, and unfortunately, it's something that can crop up at any time of life, no matter who you are. A lot of people often assume that procrastination is simply being lazy, but this isn't always the case. Often, feelings of tiredness, hopelessness, panic or even depression can cause us to put things off and avoid reality completely.

Procrastination is a trap, and once we've fallen in it can be very difficult to get back out, so why do we do it? Well for many people, procrastination is simply a way of coping with emotions and physical symptoms that often come with depression, often caused by panic. The unfortunate truth is that often, a ‘snowballing' effect can happen, you may be stressed and under pressure at work, then causing you to panic, which may then trigger depression which in turn can make thing very difficult for you to do. However it happened, it's important you get out of it, otherwise you may find that nothing will ever get done because you're too miserable and negative to bring yourself to do it.

There are 5 main ‘style's of procrastination, you may feel that you fall under one mains style, or a mixture.

1. Organization and keeping track of things is very difficult
2. You fear people disapprove of you, or fear disapproval itself
3. Important tasks seem futile, and so overwhelming it feels stupid to even attempt them
4. Hostile feelings towards someone, and punishing them by putting things off
5. Routines and Schedules cause you to feel rebellious

These styles of procrastination can often also overlap in one of four different themes: Self Doubt, Discomfort Dodging, Guilt Driven and Habitual. Self Doubt is people who feel that there are rigid standards about how certain things need to be done and often fear they will fail, they often second guess themselves and will delay taking action against procrastinating. Discomfort dodging is when a person will avoid activities that will cause them anxiety, discomfort or even distress, however, often by dodging the activity, feelings and tension don't go away, and instead mount due to the avoidance. Guilt driven people often feel extreme guilt when tasks go done, but instead of acting on their guilt and working, they instead procrastinate, avoiding the issue and the guilt completely. And finally, Habitual people are people who have found procrastination to be an automatic response within their lives, they have put things off so often, that they feel it is just a part of them now, and there is nothing they can do to change it.

But there are things you can do to change it, and get out of your procrastination cycle once and for all. The first thing is a simple idea, but it works all the same – make a list! It sounds ridiculous, but it does actually work. Just go to your local stationary store and get yourself a large notebook, and make lists and plans for yourself to stick to, prioritize everything on your list in order of importance, and allocate times for these tasks to be done (1 hour, 2 hours etc). The key to battling procrastination is organization, by allocating specific times; you're ensuring that you have enough time to do everything and get it done! If a task is particularly big, then split it up into manageable time slots, making sure that progress is steady, and you're not giving yourself too much to do.

However, you also need to create some time for yourself, or ‘reward time'. Reward time gives you an incentive to get things done, because you know once it's done you can have a break and reward yourself for your hard work. Procrastination is a tough mountain to climb, but once you reach the top you're free to reap the rewards of an organized, healthy and happy lifestyle, as well as the true relief and satisfaction that comes with having nothing weighing you down!

Can You Be Successful in 2013?

How fulfilling is your life and does it present you with meaning every day? Are you successful? Or more importantly, do you even know what success looks and feels like for you? Do you work to just get "THROUGH YOUR DAY" or are you living an inspired life where you are constantly looking for ways to get as much as possible "FROM YOUR DAY"? Discover what success means to you, then dare to unleash your appetite for inviting it into your experience and then you will be able to begin feeding on the abundance, which is all around you.

Attract Success by the Person you Become
It is seldom, if ever, that success will break your door down and arrive in one thunderous boom. Success is something you attract, as you grow, expand and finally you become, the type of person you need to be, to attract the type and scope of success you desire into your experience. Invest sufficient time, energy and resources into developing the right skills, abilities, knowledge, attitude, strength of character and consistently project a positive demeanour to the world, seeing opportunity in everything, completely believing in your unlimited potential and any level of success is possible for you.

Are you Willing to Try
The level of success you will get to enjoy in your life, is directly proportional to your beliefs and commitment around "What you are willing to Try to do" to live the success you desire. What you accomplish and finally get to make your reality, is proportional to "What you actually try" i.e. the daily action you take or fail to take. Take control over your future and have the courage to "Try", all you risk is inviting success, meaning and fulfilment into your life.

Recipe for creating Sustainable Long Term Success
The recipe for preparing a hearty serving of "ACHIEVEMENT" is to firstly mix HUGE servings of perseverance and persistence in a bowl, apply liberal amounts of determination, mix thoroughly, then flambé with education and finally apply a sprinkling of talent and genius. Servings are limited only by your appetite for "ACHIEVEMENT".

Don't Let your Fear of Failure Stop you
Action Idea: Clarify exactly what success means to you and discover why it is important for you to succeed. This clarity and an understanding of your motive around why it is important for you will ignite and sustain the flame of desire in your belly. This deep desire and drive will help you to overcome your fear of failure.

When your desire for success exceeds your fear of failure, you illuminate the path to your success with your flaming enthusiasm. This genuine enthusiasm will allow the people around you to see the authentic you, where they will get to see the real value you bring and they will be willing to support you where they can. There are very few successful hermits out there. You right people will support and encourage your success.

Choose to be Successful
You can continue to choose to remain trapped in your comfort zone and never challenge yourself and there is a slim possibility that you may create meaning in your life. Or you can choose to apply your inspired energy and activity daily, to everything you do, where over time, you will get to consistently feel satisfaction and fulfilment, as you create the exact future you desire. What are you waiting for? Another wonderful year is drawing to a close and a completely new beginning awaits in 2013. Dare to pull the trigger and make 2013 your best year that you have lived.

Be the Best! 4 Tips for Personal Growth

Be the Best! 4 Tips for Personal Growth

By Aubrey D Bartolome

The year is almost over. In just a few weeks, we will say goodbye to 2012, and welcome another year. Let me ask you a question.

How much did you grow this year?

You may have felt that 2012 is not your year. Sure, you still have your job, a family, friends, but in the back of your mind, you think that there is something you're missing. You feel that there is something that needs to develop in you.

Personal development or personal growth can mean a lot of things. It can include activities that make you more self-aware, or being able to live to your full potential.

Embarking on a journey of personal growth is not easy, and it never ends. There is always something that will distract you, and there is always something that you need to learn. You don't need to be afraid of growing. The great thing about personal growth is that it's focus is you. You don't need to look at how others do it, you simply need to look inside yourself, see the things that need to change, and do something to make that change.

If you are not sure how you can do this, here are some tips you can start with.

1 - Raise Your Standards

If you feel like your life is in a rut, it's time to stop being contented with where you are now. Mediocrity is not included in personal growth. Know what you want, and keep working towards that goal. If you want that promotion, then do better work than you did before. You may have to sacrifice a bit of your time, but it will be worth it in the end.

2 - Stay Positive

There may be times in your journey in life that you will fail. You don't need to be negative about it. See the silver lining in any situation, and turn those stumbling blocks of failure into stepping stones to success.

3 - Know Yourself

You know that quote "if you don't stand for anything, you'll fall for anything"? Keep this in mind. Know what you value, and stand up for them. Don't give in to pressure and just believe in yourself.

4 - Invest in yourself

The worst place to be is at equilibrium. There is no such thing, when you stop growing you die. Try to learn something new, like a new habit (if you don't know how to cook, this may be the time to take lessons!), or maybe a new language, or Latin dancing! It doesn't matter what you try, just remember to have fun!

The next year can be your best year yet if you just take the time to grow. Start on your journey today and get ready for a great year to come!

Juggle Work and Home with Ease

Juggle Work and Home with Ease by Nelson Berry

Managing home and work is never easy. It is double the stress. But you surely can rise above the challenge without pushing yourself to the limit. Lean how to deal with stress properly with these tips:

Separate them. Do not bring your work at your home, in the same way you should not carry your personal problems in your office. You do not get things done, and you will only feel bad about yourself because of it. Make the boundaries between your home and office very clear.

Relax, no matter where you are. Find a time to relax whether you are in your home or at work. It does not have to take a long time. A good stress reduction strategy is visualization.

Here is an example: Go to the bathroom for fifteen minutes, close your eyes, and take slow deep breaths. Count one to three for every breath you take. Inhale with your nose and allow the air to fill your lungs. Then exhale through your mouth slowly. While doing so, imagine yourself saying the following subliminal messages or affirmations:

I can handle whatever stress.
I imagine stress leaving out my body every time I exhale.
I can overcome all challenges.
If thing do not work out well today, there is always another day.

Repeat them as often as you can within the specified duration. Allow those subliminal messages to really go into your subconscious and change your thinking pattern and your feelings. By the time you walk out of the room, you will feel so refreshed and ready to get going.

Delegate. You do not have to carry the burden all on your own. A good stress relief is delegate tasks you know other people can do. That will also teach them to be more responsible. Moreover, doing so will help you finish a lot of your workload or chores.

Consider having a work-at-home job. One of the best stress management tips is to have an at-home work. Having a work-at-home job means less time on the road and out of the house. There is also less pressure as you can be more flexible with your own time.

If you are working a full-time job, you can talk with your boss and propose an at-home setup for you. If it does not work out, you can always start looking for plenty of online work.

Meditate. When you have so many responsibilities up your sleeves, it is easy to get so overwhelmed and worry about the future. Will I have the ability to accomplish them? Will they turn out all right?

One of the ways in coping with stress is to meditate. Through meditation, you become more conscious about the present moment. It also clears up your mind, so you can make sounder decisions.

Focus, focus, focus. One of the reasons why you are experiencing work stress is you multi-task. You will accomplish more if you will focus on one thing and stick to it until you get it done. It is the same thing with managing your household.

How To Successfully Change Your Thought Patterns

It has also been scientifically proven that our thoughts directly influence our lives and there is a wealth of information that can be found warning every one of the dangers of thinking negatively, and rightly so! Your thoughts affect your current health, your successes in life, your relationships, your finances, they influence everything. Your current reality is a mirror of the beliefs and thoughts you hold.

Just by changing the way you think, you can change your life. You have infinite power within you to influence your results and you would be naive not to harness this power. Researchers have shown us that we have on average between 50 000 to 70000 thoughts a day! How many of those thoughts are empowering you and how many of those thoughts are limiting you? It becomes clearer every day that positive thinking is not a sheer luxury but a must if you want to feel fulfilled and happier in life.

The results you have in your life now are come from your past thoughts. Very often, past thoughts become a vicious cycle in undermining current and future results. For example, imagine you are struggling in your business, you are not aware but every second thought you have is something like `I will never be successful` or `my business is going to collapse in a few months´ or ´I am a failure, I knew it´. What really plays out now is that your thoughts connect to emotions, bad thoughts leads to bad feelings and you act on your feelings. In this example, the business owner would make very different business decisions and take very different actions depending if he felt positive or not. Unfortunately, because he believes he will fail, he will most likely fail and he will mostly think that he was right too to be negative, which then reinforces this false belief and the cycle continues.

Because our thoughts are on automatic, most of the time we are not even aware we are having them. The first step is to become aware of the types of limiting thoughts you often have. Once you are aware of how many negative thoughts you have, you want to start to change the neurological patterns that have been formed. The more of the same thought you have, the more energy you are giving it and the more you are reinforcing that thought pattern. The neurons group and come together and are then more prominent in your awareness.

Simple Steps To Successfully Change Your Thought Patterns

  • Identify – First you want to identify and acknowledge what types of thoughts you regularly have
  • Awareness – The next steps is to create awareness around the thought. You want to understand where this thought/belief originates from. For all your negative thoughts, ask yourself if this is a belief or is it a fact, if it is a belief, how will you change it to empower you now?
  • Replace – Now you want to replace this thought to one that is positive and will empower you.
  • Repetition – You want to repeat the new thought in your mind so that now you are redirecting your energy to a positive thought and you are creating a new pattern. Every time you think that thought, you are reinforcing it.

You need to repeatedly re-direct your thoughts to the positive one every time. The substance that keeps the associated thoughts together doesn't have unlimited supply so the good news is that after a lot of repetition, the old neurons start to disconnect and the new positive thought patterns replace it.

Change does not happen overnight and unfortunately, there is no magic pill you can take to see results instantaneously. It takes effort, time, commitment and perseverance, but with anything in life, these are the key ingredients to successfully make the changes and achieve what we desire.

You can also try:

  • Distancing – this is when you just let your thoughts slip past you without giving too much attention to them at all.
  • When you are aware that you are thinking negatively, tell the voice in your head ¨to shut up¨ or ¨sshh¨
  • Do something active – If you feel like you are in a negative thinking rut and you can´t refocus, starting moving and do something active, this will help you to be distracted and change your focus for awhile.

Goal Setting Activities

by Danyal Horton

Each one of us is likely to set goals in life voluntarily or unwillingly and strive to achieve those goals. We set goals to obtain improvement in many areas of life including vocation, personal situations, education, and business. The process is to come up with a few changes in our routine or introduce a few habits which are not present recently so that you can accomplish what we had in mind. These days business coaching and personal improvement periods educate you to set SMART goals, write them down, focus on them, and after that assign assets to achieve them. In this article we're going to discuss what is actually meant by SMART goals and what the different goal setting activities that will help to accomplish those goals are.

Concise explanation of SMART goals

When we say SMART, we mean goals that are Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely - that is why the acronym SMART. Whenever you think of a goal, make sure it fits on the previously mentioned criteria. A particular goal is easy to carry out compared to a general goal. There must be ways to appraise the progress of achieving a certain goal. In case you have no idea where you are heading, there's no reason why you should keep on the same track. Build a guide to achieve a goal and strictly stick to it. Any goal must be realistic and practical so that you can achieve it within the available resources as well as time. And lastly you need to assign each goal a period of time frame and try to achieve it within that length of time. If you waste too much time on a goal that is not producing the actual results which you were expecting, you will not be able to attain the next level.

Goal Setting Routines - A Road Map

A target is normally set to change something and also to reach that point you must adhere to a step-by-step approach. Right here we are going to go over a number of goal setting routines that help you set SMART goals and achieve them in a practical way.

1. Research, research, research. Prior to setting a goal that is more likely to bring positive results in a short span of time, spend some time conducting research concerning the numerous available options and next picking out the one that matches your lifestyle.

2. Specify the type of goal you are interested in. There are two types of goals: short term and long term. You need to categorize all your goals in these two groups after which allocate resources correctly. In addition, every person has some professional goals and some personal goals that should be taken into consideration. You should try to create a balance between these two types of goals in order to achieve them in a timely manner.

3. Write down your goals. This could be the most significant component of goal setting activities that helps you to not only recognize all your objectives but also provides you with an opportunity to revisit your list from time to time in an effort to assess how well you're progressing. When you're done writing down your goals, focus on them so that you can assign resources available at one point to the most important goals.

4. Make your goals realistic. If your goals are too good to be true, it is time you improved them. The time frame you assign to one particular goal should also be practical; otherwise you might not be able to see the final results you are anticipating. This activity also demands determining what kinds of resources you'll need in order to achieve a particular goal.

Some people are more motivated than others but everyone can set goals in life and take steps to accomplish them no matter how trivial those goals are. Adhere to the afore-mentioned guidelines to achieve things in life that are essential to you. The first and most important step in goal setting activities is to decide what you actually want to do with your life and from that point on, pursue the road map to success!

How to Reinvent Yourself and Win

How to Reinvent Yourself and Win

By Lou Djankovic

Are you finding that you are on the same carousel and you keep on going around in a circle and not getting anywhere? And you believe that it's time to find out how to reinvent yourself and win the life that you always wanted. Well, you can!

To reinvent yourself it takes a few steps and done consistently will put on to the path. Let's start.

1. Decide what you want.

This is the most important of them of all and if you don't figure this one out, you will keep going around in circles and never be satisfied. Sit down and think what you really want. Take time out of your day and ask yourself this question and once you get the answer - write it down. Sometimes it will come to you instantly and other times you will have to ask yourself over a few sessions. But when you do figure out what you want, you have to take it out of your head.

2. Why do you want it?

Once you have figured out what you want, you have to ask the next important step, why do I want it. What will receiving this thing that you want give you? What will you look like when you have it? What will you be doing? How will you feel? How will your life improve from having this thing that you want or what will it bring you? These answers will fuel you to move.

3. Take action.

Once you have figured out the what and the why, it's time to do it. And you have to do this every day. It doesn't have to be world shattering but you need to do a little each and every day so that you get what you want. Success does not come from doing something once, you need to repeatedly do it and when you do receive it, STILL DO NOT STOP.

To reinvent yourself all you have to do is re-write your story. What kind of story do you want to have? You may have been told that you have to go to school and get a job and that's what you do for your life but is that TRULY what you want.

Once those three things are established, there are resources and programs that can help you understand how to carry out these changes to succeed.

Isn't it time for a change? Go ahead, you'll thank yourself for it later.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step

Author: Claire Chapman

Take the first step...

What is it you want? Where do you want to go? Now you know where you are going, think about where you are now. What's the first thing that you need to do to get moving? If possible, do it today. Life is full of "if only" and "I couldn't because". Don't be someone full of regrets because of what you didn't do, be someone who is full of stories of what they have done.

Keep taking steps.... even if they feel like baby steps!

We all have those days where it feels like every step is painful, or there is something else to do, or it's just plain too difficult. It's the "don' wanna" cry of the tantruming two! Even if it's something really simple, take one step. Mark Forster talks about this when he says, "Just get the file out". It's only a small step, but it proves your intent. After all, after you've got the file out, it's not as difficult to do something with it, is it? Have any projects that seem to have been at a standstill? Just do one thing today to get moving on it. You probably already know what it is!

Enjoy it...

I've got a quote on my fridge that reads, "Remember that happiness is a means of travel, not a destination". Get there - have fun on the journey. Enjoy it when you get there rather than moving straight to the next place, next goal, and next challenge. Rest a while and glory in the fabulousness of what you have achieved. Tell everyone!

...And then work out what steps you want to take next!

You've achieved it - what's next? There are always new opportunities coming our way. What opportunities are you spotting right now that you are excited about? What's your first step for that?

Happiness Is Here, Happiness Is Now

by Christiana Senibo

Are you familiar with the phrase 'I'll be happy when I ....'
More importantly, does it sound like you?

The Cambridge dictionary defines happy as: feeling, showing or causing pleasure or satisfaction. So many times we wait for something or someone to make us happy. We believe we'll be happy when we get the promotion, meet that special person, buy the house, and maybe win the lottery.

Happiness is a decision. Make that decision everyday. Irrespective of what life throws your way, you can choose your state. You and not your situations should determine whether you stay happy or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you won't have bad days, neither am I saying you shouldn't express your pain. I am saying irrespective of the pain and anger, choose to be happy. Acknowledge the situation (don't be in denial), express your pain (and you should) whatever way you want to, but after it's said, don't let it get the better of you. Don't let your disposition and attitude towards life become one of despair or rejection. I'm asking you to be like a thermostat which sets the temperature of a room. Whether it's hot or cold, the thermostat stays at a set temperature. It acknowledges the change in the environment; nonetheless it remains at the set temperature. The thermometer on the other hand is different; it fluctuates with different environmental conditions.

So the question is how? How do you stay happy when everything that could possibly go wrong happens? The following are some steps that have helped me stay happy in spite of:
Remember that regardless of what you are going through, someone else will gladly switch places with you. I remember listening to a song when I was younger in Nigeria where the singer complained of having sardines and beans for food. I thought to myself, oh my gosh!! I want to live in your country; where it's a sad thing to have sardines and beans for food. For me sardine and baked beans was luxury. My parents could only occasionally afford it and whenever they did it was a big deal! I would have gladly switched places with the singer.
See the opportunity in the situation. If you've been diagnosed with a terminal illness, see the opportunity life still presents by giving you time to make the most of your relationship with your loved ones. See it as a second chance to make the rest of your life great.
Decide that you are the boss of your life. Nobody and nothing (especially not pain) will take you captive without your permission. If you've acknowledged the situation and expressed your pain, then move on. Refuse to be constantly harassed by the pain or upsetting feeling. Refuse to be held captive by the pain or situation. Instead exercise your freedom by choosing a positive state.
Find the lesson. There's always a lesson hidden inside every negative situation. Finding the lesson enhances your life and makes you stronger. Don't forget life is not just about the destination, it's also about the process and who you become as a result. Finding the lesson puts the situation in perspective and makes it more manageable.
Imagine what your life would look like if you are a thermometer. You will be highly unpredictable and unreliable because one minute you are happy, then the next you are grumpy or sad; fluctuating with the different situations life throws your way. Imagine on the other hand what your life will be like if you are a thermostat, where you take control of negative experiences and decide that in spite of them you'll be happy anyway.

In the words of Martha Washington, "I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances."

As you start your week, remember that happiness is a decision. And with every negative experience you encounter, determine that you and not the situation will decide your outcome.

Look and Feel Happier Instantly!

Look and Feel Happier Instantly! by Kari Farmer

When you look happy you feel happy. It's hard to fake a happy demeanor when you are feeling down in the dumps but there are some things you can do to make yourself feel happier by utilizing your body language.

When we are depressed or upset there are certain things that we do with our body language that signifies that fact. We may not be aware we are even doing it! But the truth is, if you are portraying an upset person then you will feel like an upset person.

A good example is faking sick. I used to pretend to be sick to get out of work by slumping my shoulders, rubbing my stomach, rubbing my head and appearing to be miserable. It wasn't long that I got to go home from work, but it also wasn't long till I started getting a headache and actually feel sick! That's the power that your body language has. You are not only telling the world how you feel but you are telling yourself how you feel.

Knowing this simple little truth about body language you can make other people view you how you want and make yourself feel better instantly if you want to. You just have to assume the position!

First notice how you are sitting. If you are slumped over with your shoulders forward and your head hanging down then you will appear to be in some sort of negative mood. It could be sad, tired, or depressed. And chances are if you are sitting or standing slumped over you will feel that way as well. So fix your body position.

Straighten up and pull you shoulders back. Put your head up high to convey a message of feeling good and confident about yourself. You will soon notice yourself feeling happier just from this one body fix.

The next step in appearing and feeling happier is taking note of your facial expressions. Paying attention to your facial expressions is important because even if your body is speaking of confidence, certain facial expressions can make you seem egotistical or angry.

Is your mouth tight and scowling or is it relaxed and smiling? Are your eyes scrunched up and judgmental looking or are they relaxed and approving. Are you eyebrows raised in a disapproving look or are they relaxed? The thing to take note of here is the feeling of relaxed. Any tight, pulled back expression will send a message contrary to happiness.

Once those two facets of body language are presenting a feeling of happiness you will notice that other people will be more likely to approach you and be comfortable around you. And you will also feel better being around yourself! You will feel more at ease and less negative just by changing your body language.

Another way to be happier instantly is with positive affirmations. To learn more about positive affirmations visit Kari's website Manifest Connection, a personal development website for the mind, body, and spirit.

Repairing Your Self Esteem

Repairing Your Self Esteem

By Michelle Sears

Repairing your self esteem can be done but it takes commitment, determination and desire. But not in the sense that you might think.

Because it has nothing to do with your surrounds, your family or your career. All this work is done internally. You must learn to love and accept yourself completely.

You must commit and commit fully because the only person who is concerned about building yours self esteem is you. You're the only one who knows what self esteem means to you and how much of it you have.

And it all begins with loving yourself. You need to love yourself enough to have compassion and sympathy for yourself. And you need to understand that you're not always going to be right and that's OK.

You're going to make mistakes and regret doing or saying things but that's part of life. You can't beat yourself up for it. You must let it go and keep moving forward.

I've noticed that a lot of people who are unhappy and uncaring about themselves are spending most of their waking hours living in the past.

By continuing to be unforgiving and unaccepting of themselves in the present. It's unnecessary and it's mentally, physically and spiritually draining.

Learning to let it go

Learning to let go of anything and everything that happened in the past will help you tremendously with repairing your self esteem.

I believe that on some level, self esteem does fluctuate up and down. One day you may have a ton of it and nothing bothers you and on other days you may not be able to tolerate a thing.

That's why it so important to learn to let it go. Let go of the fact that you acted irrational yesterday. Let go of the fact that you could have acted differently but never. Forgive yourself for saying not very nice things about your mother ten years ago.

Forgive yourself for getting out of line the last time you were angry or upset. Forgive yourself for making a mistake that hurt or effected someone else.

Holding onto all these little self judgments from the past will keep you from feeling good about yourself in the present. And the longer you hold onto them the more unhappy you'll become.

Learn to live in the present moment

Learning to live in the present moment will make you happier, more accepting and much more adventurous than you can imagine right now.

If you start to focus more of your attention on what is happening in your present situations you'll have the power to fix what isn't working and start enjoy what is. Instead of thinking and feeling negative about what happened in the past.

In the past, where you have no power to change it anyway. You have the power to control what you focus on. And you have the power to choose to be loving and accepting. And you also have the power to create all things the way you want them to be.

Repairing your self esteem is worth it in the short term and in the long run as well. You'll never regret feeling good about yourself or accepting yourself regardless of what happens.

But I do know one thing, you absolutely cannot live in the past and expect to happy, healthy and wise in the present. You must make the necessary adjustments to do whatever it takes to live in the present moment and to treat yourself with loving kindness right now.

Forget about fixing the past, that stuff is over and done with. Focus your attention on right now and how you want your future to look. That is where your power is and that is where you can learn to love and accept yourself completely, which is the core of self esteem.

Self Improvement Made Easy With Support From Subliminal Messages

If you are reading this article you are probably a fan of personal development, but have you ever experimented with subliminal messaging?

While many programs demand huge investments of time and finances, the path of subliminal messaging does neither and can get you want you want out of life.

Any choice to improve yourself starts with you and your determination to take that first step and put it into action. A serious commitment is needed to reach the higher state of living you want. With subliminal audio, self-improvement is easier than it’s ever been.

Although they are audio tracks that need to be played and heard, you won't have to focus and concentrate on anything. The science of subliminal audio will inspire thoughts and gives foundations to thinking patterns to help you to achieve your goals and achieve the success you are looking for.

On top of the easy approach, any logical resistances your mind would normally put up are bypassed by the subconscious comprehension achieved by subliminal messaging. This allows you to tackle the most significant issues in your life and make changes that typical ‘conscious’ self help programs are incapable of.

Because you are sending information into the subconscious mind you can avoid any logical mental resistances and make powerful changes from within , changes which really will have a massive impact on your patterns of thinking, your self beliefs and your entire life.

There are a massive amount of targeted subliminal tracks which will place you on the fast track to becoming the very best person you can be. You can literally get a subliminal album for almost everything - from subliminal weight loss to stopping smoking, improving confidence, developing memory, even to help you to achieve success with the law of attraction and much more.

I know this all sounds fantastic, and subliminal audio really can be if it is used properly, nevertheless it just isn't an instantaneous ticket to success. You have to really want the change and put in real effort in your everyday life to make it happen.

Change Naturally With Hypnosis

Now is the time to try hypnosis

It seems like everyone is talking about hypnosis, and it is becoming widely known as a simple and natural method for deep and lasting change.

Hypnosis is now established i.e. a way to gain access to your mind and reprogram your limiting and negative beliefs, a tool you can use to eliminate these negativities and change for the better.

Hypnosis is a simple tool really, and is often way over mystified. All it really does is put you into a focused state of heightened awareness, where suggestions can easily be made to you which you will accept without resistance.

It is because of this that you can make changes more naturally - as your logical, conscious, and often negative mind lets it's guard down, and so you can make changes on a deeper level.

Hypnosis works in two major ways:

First of all hypnosis works to sculpt your patterns of thinking. This can vary depending on the area you are pursuing, whether it's weight loss or self confidence for instance. Hypnosis would look at exactly how you think about healthy eating, staying on a diet, or meeting new people, socialising etc. Tap into how you think when you think about working out, or eating healthy food, or how you feel when you think about having to meet a new group of people.

It basically exchanges your negative patterns of thinking, for optimistic ones - for example, if you see exercising and healthy eating as a chore, it would rewire your perspective to start to enjoy exercising, and to think of all of the great things about healthy food. Or if you worry about social situations, then it would instil inside you beneficial patterns of thinking in this area - so that you start looking forward to socializing, and make use of a way of thinking where you relish meeting and learning new things about completely new individuals.

This is exactly how you start to change. However, the next element is necessary for much deeper, and true, lasting change:

The second aspect is that hypnosis changes your values on a deep level

For example, it aims to replace the negative self beliefs, beliefs which hold you back from authentic change, for positive ones. It'll make you more positive, more self confident, and ensure that you truly feel like you actually will change, like you can improve yourself and most importantly, that you DESERVE change.

Once you have these main self beliefs, this natural self assurance, and belief in yourself, then you will be able to change for the better.

Life is About Choices and the Decisions We Make

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent.  There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

Take the risk: decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveler or an accidental tourist of life.  But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads:

Get as many information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

Identify and create options.

What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight.  So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.

The Key to a Better Life

Time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However,  80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although  the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.

Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

But there are more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth.

Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new are of knowledge you acquire, each new piece of advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.

Having a balanced life-style should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp.

Time management is about getting results, not about being busy.

The six areas that personal time management seeks to improve in anyone's life are physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual.

The physical aspect involves having a healthy body, less stress and fatigue.

The intellectual aspect involves learning and other mental growth activities.

The social aspect involves developing personal or intimate relations and being an active contributor to society.

The career aspect involves school and work.

The emotional aspect involves appropriate feelings and desires and manifesting them.

The spiritual aspect involves a personal quest for meaning.

Thoroughly planning and having a set of things to do list for each of the key areas may not be very practical, but determining which area in your life is not being giving enough attention is part of time management. Each area creates the whole you, if you are ignoring one area then you are ignoring an important part of yourself.

Personal time management should not be so daunting a task. It is a very sensible and reasonable approach in solving problems big or small.

A great way of learning time management and improving your personal life is to follow several basic activities. One of them is to review your goals whether it be immediate or long-term goals often and a way to do this is to keep a list that is always accessible to you.

Always determine which task is necessary or not necessary in achieving your goals and which activities are helping you maintain a balanced life style.

Each and everyone of us has a peek time and a time when we slow down, these are our natural cycles. We should be able to tell when to do the difficult tasks when we are the sharpest.

Learning to say "No". You actually see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends. Pat yourself on the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an effective time management result. Try and get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management. Don't procrastinate. Attend to necessary things immediately.

Have a positive attitude and set yourself up for success but be realistic in your approach in achieving your goals. Have a record or journal of all your activities. This will help you get things in their proper perspective.
These are the few steps you initially take in becoming a well rounded individual.

As the say personal time management is the art and science of building a better life.

From the moment you integrate into your life time management skills, you have opened several options that can provide a broad spectrum of solutions to your personal growth. It also creates more doors for opportunities to knock on.

Motivation, The Heart of Self Improvement

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don’t need money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends – are life’s greatest ‘F’ treasures. Don’t loose sight of them.

G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people – the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K – keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.

L – Learn to love your self. Now isn't that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah build the ark.

S – Stop procrastinating.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on “extras” on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you’re just going to spend it once.

Z – Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

"A Better You", 7 ways to self-improvement

I seem to have lost count on how many times I've read and heard of celebrity marriages failing. Not that I care (and personally I don't), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

1. Know your purpose
Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight spot or even a dead end. But there's always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

2. Know your values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2005 - check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn't align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn't discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs
Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it's too late!

4. Know your passions
You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out
Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it's hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There's sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

6. Honor your strengths
What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three - if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others
When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

Happy as You Want to Be

Almost everyone have heard the hit single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin's simple message surely made a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change', and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change.

Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well with

Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make a life more wonderful and also more healthy.

To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

There are several ways by which you can do this.

Being grateful is a great attitude.  We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can't start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do.

A religious connection is also recommended. Being part of a religious group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations foster inner peace.

Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed  as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday.  Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they also say -'Laughter is the best medicine'.

Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time.

Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday.  Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future.

Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive.

Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places.

These are the few simple things you can do everyday to be happy.

And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, he says that, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Are Your Eyes Closed To Easy Ways Of Improving Your Life?

by Lesley Knowles

There are no personal development ideas that can help you if implementation does not happen. Every hour, day, or week's delay in your own personal development plan means many lost opportunities. Read on to learn how to reach your personal development goals.

Of the many resources needed to achieve self-actualization, time is your most precious one. Either you can invest your time living out and pursuing your dreams, or squander your time on purposeless and meaningless activities. You make the choice. Procrastination is natural to humans. When you battle the urge to procrastinate, remember this: Every moment you procrastinate, you choose to push yourself one step further away from the lifestyle that you desire while simultaneously moving one step closer to the death of your dream.

Is your house, your car, or your desk always cluttered and messy? If so, it is likely holding you back in one way or another. A physical environment is truly a reflection of one's mental environment. It is not only reflective of how you feel and think, but a messy place also reinforces negative behaviors. When you are in a bad or unpleasant situation, a bit of cleaning goes a long way towards lifting your spirits. It is also vital to consistently develop your space as you develop personally. By getting rid of unnecessary junk and older memorabilia, dusting and clearing off your shelves, and reorganizing your closets, you force your brain to be active and accept change. Spring cleaning may sound tedious and boring, but it can also be a good type of brain improvement if you are ready to take the next big step in your life.

Similarly to how a messy and sloppy environment can negatively affect your thought processes, codependent relationships and a bad social environment can negatively affect your behaviors and your thoughts. It can also, in time, poison your self confidence. You absolutely can not allow negative influences of other people to derail your journey in self improvement. If someone wants to berate or belittle you, it's due to the fact that you are making good progress and thus becoming more independent and free. The ways they once used to manipulate you aren't working any longer and the change is not pleasant for them.

Having faith in your own good judgement and abilities is key. Stay away from unhealthy relationships with negative people who will bring you down and sabotage all of the efforts you are making to achieve your goals. You are here in this world to be productive, and fulfill your destiny. There is no need to be manipulative or petty, and the baggage of jealousy is poison.

These tips are not the touchy-feely tips you may have been expecting. However, these tips were designed to help you wake up and see things as they really are. As you learn to look around you with discretion, you can see what is really there. This knowledge can help you reach your self improvement goals.

Maintaining A Positive Approach To Daily Life

by Simon Barnett

It's sometimes all too easy to feel like life isn't going as well as it should be. Minor niggles can develop into more significant issues, causing you to spend more time thinking about what's going wrong. The truth is, however, that you might feel better if you take a more positive attitude.

This could, of course, be said to be easy in theory. But the reality may be substantially different, causing you to question whether you can achieve the happiness that you seek. It's not a simple process to escape from a cycle of negativity and this is something that may concern you. How can you make the changes that are necessary in order to allow you to think in a different way?

It's sometimes necessary to take steps that may seem to be rather strange. You might start, as an example, by making a list of all the great things that you have in your life. Such a list might include absolutely everything, from loved ones to ice cream that can currently be found within your freezer at home!

As I said, this may seem like a rather odd thing to do. So why is it something that you would even consider? The answer is that you should look to avoid the danger of assuming that all is going wrong in life. It may well be the case that improvements can be made, but it's unlikely that things are as bad as they first appear.

Once you start making the list, you'll discover that it's hard to stop a smile from forming on your lips. You'll consider great things in life and many of the reasons why you actually enjoy the daily routine. You'll certainly see that there's a lot to be happy about. This is a list that you should keep safe too.

You might, for instance, want to pin it on a message board. Alternatively, it could be attached to your fridge. Ideally, you'll want to place it somewhere that it can be seen every single day. Every time you look at the list, you'll be reminded of the fantastic elements of your life.

This focus on positive issues is likely to become more and more important to you. A number of scientific studies have discovered that people who believe that they are lucky will tend to get more positive results in life. In a sense, they will actually become lucky as a result. The same can be true when it comes to happiness.

If you assume that you have a lot to be happy about, then it's likely that more and more situations will make you smile. What you'll discover is that you actually have a lot to smile about and to be thankful for.

Living life in a positive way can be hugely rewarding. It's something that you may want to try!

Think about counselling Belfast services and how they can change your outlook, as discussed in more articles by Simon Barnett. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.

Keeping Your Chin Up - How to Be Happy When Things Are Bad

Keeping Your Chin Up - How to Be Happy When Things Are Bad

By Frederik Kreijmborg

We all experience times when things are bad. Keeping your chin up is not easy but it's manageable if you really want to turn things around.

Let me introduce four simple methods to be happy when things are bad which work for many people every day.

1. Recall some of the good things

Life has not always been bad. When you're feeling sad about something in your present it helps tremendously to remember something from your precious past that makes you smile again.

In order to feel good you have to move on. Recalling some of the good things that happened in your life will help you regain trust in yourself. You're in control of your emotions and you should not forget that.

2. Concentrate on today

Most people feel bad about things that happened days, weeks or even years ago. But why even bother? You can't change the past. It's gone. You have to deal with the fact that your only option is moving on. Everything else will corrupt your mental health and lead to a downward spiral of sadness.

Today is the day you should live in, not yesterday, not tomorrow. Just today. This is not easy and it takes some time to get used to live in the present instead of the dreaded past or the frightening future. Once you've learned to concentrate with today (each and every day) you'll be able to feel happy again in a matter of minutes.

You should concentrate on things that you're looking forward to or that you were looking forward to before things were bad. Stimulate your positive feelings connected to any of your plans for today (or any day in the future). Stick with your plan and don't let yourself bumped off track by negativity.

3. Surround yourself with happy people

It's much easier to be happy again after something bad happens if you surround yourself with other happy and relaxed people who enjoy their own personal to-days.

We tend to stick with sad people when we're sad but this behavior is unhealthy as it creates some kind of vicious circle which makes everything much more complicated. Instead of seeking other sad people you have to find people who have a higher level of energy than yourself at the moment.

Don't be afraid: you won't steal their energy or destroy their good vibes. It's a win-win situation as the other people will probably enjoy to support you with finding the bright side of life again. People love to make other people happy because they can give themselves an imaginary pat on the back, saying: "Well done. You've done your good deed for today."

Exploit that behavior; you won't do any harm by doing so.

4. Be creative

Another very efficient method to get rid of bad feelings is being creative. Drawing, singing, writing, gardening, scrapbooking, building and all sorts of creative activities will give you a nice boost of self-esteem because you see the (positive) results of your work immediately.

If you can create a picture, a song or a poem you can also create non-physical things, e.g. emotions.

Realize that you can create something out of nothing and utilize this ability to create happy thoughts for yourself.

If this sounds like stupid mumbo jumbo you're partly right. But it doesn't hurt to try one of two of the above methods, does it?
