Build your self esteem, a starter guide to self improvement

So how do you stay calm, composed and maintain self esteem in a tough environment? Here are some tips you may to consider as a starter guide to self improvement.

Imagine yourself as a Dart Board. Everything and everyone else around you may become Darts, at one point or another. These darts will destroy your self esteem and pull you down in ways you won’t even remember. Don’t let them destroy you, or get the best of you.  So which darts should you avoid?

Dart #1 : Negative Work Environment
Beware of “dog eat dog” theory where everyone else is fighting just to get ahead. This is where non-appreciative people usually thrive. No one will appreciate your contributions even if you miss lunch and dinner, and stay up late. Most of the time you get to work too much without getting help from people concerned.  Stay out of this, it will ruin your self esteem. Competition is at stake anywhere. Be healthy enough to compete, but in a healthy competition that is.

Dart #2: Other People’s Behavior
Bulldozers, brown nosers, gossipmongers, whiners, backstabbers, snipers, people walking wounded, controllers, naggers, complainers, exploders, patronizers, sluffers… all these kinds of people will pose bad vibes for your self esteem, as well as to your self improvement scheme.

Dart #3: Changing Environment
You can’t be a green bug on a brown field. Changes challenge our paradigms. It tests our flexibility, adaptability and alters the way we think. Changes will make life difficult for a while, it may cause stress but it will help us find ways to improve our selves. Change will be there forever, we must be susceptible to it.

Dart #4: Past Experience
It’s okay to cry and say “ouch!” when we experience pain. But don’t let pain transform itself into fear. It might grab you by the tail and swing you around. Treat each failure and mistake as a lesson.

Dart #5: Negative World View
Look at what you’re looking at. Don’t wrap yourself up with all the negativities of the world. In building self esteem, we must learn how to make the best out of worst situations.

Dart #6: Determination Theory
The way you are and your behavioral traits is said to be a mixed end product of your inherited traits (genetics), your upbringing (psychic), and your environmental surroundings such as your spouse, the company, the economy or your circle of friends. You have your own identity. If your father is a failure, it doesn’t mean you have to be a failure too. Learn from other people’s experience, so you’ll never have to encounter the same mistakes.

Sometimes, you may want to wonder if some people are born leaders or positive thinkers. NO. Being positive, and staying positive is a choice. Building self esteem and drawing lines for self improvement is a choice, not a rule or a talent. God wouldn’t come down from heaven and tell you – “George, you may now have the permission to build self esteem and improve your self.”

In life, its hard to stay tough specially when things and people around you keep pulling you down. When we get to the battle field, we should choose the right luggage to bring and armors to use, and pick those that are bullet proof. Life’s options give us arrays of more options. Along the battle, we will get hit and bruised. And wearing a bullet proof armor ideally means ‘self change’. The kind of change which comes from within. Voluntarily. Armor or Self Change  changes 3 things: our attitude, our behavior and our way of thinking.

Building self esteem will eventually lead to self improvement if we start to become responsible for who we are, what we have and what we do. Its like a flame that should gradually spread like a brush fire from inside and out. When we develop self esteem, we take control of our mission, values and discipline.  Self esteem brings about self improvement, true assessment, and determination. So how do you start putting up the building blocks of self esteem? Be positive. Be contented and happy. Be appreciative. Never miss an opportunity to compliment. A positive way of living will help you build self esteem, your starter guide to self improvement.

The Life Changing Power Of Positive Thoughts

The Life Changing Power Of Positive Thoughts by Don Schoolcraft

Positive thoughts foster desirable images, conceptions, words, sentiments, emotions, energy or vibrations of joy, happiness, achievement, expansion and development.

The brain is a strong instrument in bringing about life changing effects so nourishing it with positivism pulls in what it wants.
The cosmos is made up of good and bad energy. If yours is a positive one, you emanate it and like a magnet, you will get all the favorable results.

Some will call it luck. Others might call it success achieved through hard work.

But have you noticed that truly successful people seem not afraid to go wrong? Why is that? Because they don’t think they would fail in the first place. This attitude makes a great difference.

Positive thoughts are as powerful as negative thoughts so it is important to keep your emotions and mental attitude towards all aspects of life under control. Of course, you can’t always eliminate negative thoughts in your life, but you can certainly minimize it by training your mind to view the bright side of things.

In other words, you should harness the power of positive thinking to be successful.

Change don't happen overnight. Positive thinking takes focus, practice and determination. No matter how things develop, problems are simply a part of life and giving in to your emotions is only normal.

What you should keep in mind is to make a switch as soon as you acknowledge any negative thoughts. Don’t dwell on it too long. Instead think of happy and cheerful events in your life. Smile frequently to break a gloomy situation.

Positive thoughts become effective when reinforced. Affirmations tend to help a lot. Repeat one affirmation every day. You may also learn inspirational quotes or stories. Listen to a happy song and if you feel like it, start dancing. Create a list of positive words and repeat each several times.

Envision what you want to have in your life and how having those things or situations may benefit you.

Maybe you want a new car because you want to shuttle to and from your work and home effortlessly? Then think about the comfort of hassle-free traveling. You wouldn’t be late for your work anymore and more significantly; you’ll be more productive. When you get more productive, you will be up for promotion shortly.

See, how these thoughts lead to bigger and beneficial results? Once you have mastered this method, you can easily aspire for anything and get it.

Staying Positive is the Secret of Attraction

By: Dr Robert Anthony

The secret of attraction is wholly dependent on practicing positive thoughts and actions. The more negative you are about your endeavors, the less likely it will be for you to succeed in them. Just be more assertive and aggressive with your behavior and you’ll be amazed by how much you can achieve. Just check out the examples below if you want a clearer idea:

1. The secret of attraction to win people over to your cause. Let’s say you’re promoting a cause. It may be something that has to do with the environment, choosing to become a vegetarian, or voting for your political candidate. Such platforms can be pretty tough to promote in a polarized nation such as ours, but if you want to attract people to your cause, you need to first believe in what you’re fighting for. Believe it or not, people in general can ascertain if you’re truly passionate about the issue or just a paid mouthpiece! But when you radiate passion and enthusiasm and speak with authority on the subject, the higher your chances of convincing them to join you.

2. The secret of attraction to having more money in your life. If you want to attract wealth, you need to stop letting your money control you and instead, learn to control it to suit your goals. For example, all your life, you’ve seen how your mother could not control her spending. Shopping was a way to make her feel good, no matter how much debt she was accruing year in and year out. You need to stop equating your self esteem with how much money you can spend to impress your friends, which is a negative no-no. Start viewing money as neither good nor bad, but as a tool to help you live a stable and comfortable life. Using positive thoughts and actions like moderating your spending and paying bills on time are just some ways to bring in more money –not debt – into your life!

3. The secret of attraction to help you win a client: If you’re in sales, you know what a cutthroat industry it can be. Many sales people would sell their grandmothers down the river just to nab an important client. On a less exaggerated note, they would even try to steal a fellow salesperson’s client by encroaching into the transaction. Don’t play dirty like those people, for in this universe there is such a thing as karmic comeuppance. Strive to be ethical and upstanding in your occupation. Carry out only positive thoughts and actions when conducting your business and pretty soon you will build a good name for yourself and attract clients. Leave the monkey business to your less ethical colleagues who will only end up having a reputation for being unscrupulous and irritating.

4. The secret of attraction to attaining inner peace. You don’t need to go to a temple and surround yourself with silent monks to achieve inner peace. The first step to achieving it is by choosing to focus only on positive thoughts and actions, which include forgiving yourself and others. In order to move on, you need to let go of the past. Even something as recent as yesterday’s mess up in the office should be treated as history. Learn from your errors and think of corrective actions rather than telling yourself, “I wish I hadn’t done that.”

5. The secret of attraction to get the body you want. Yes, the doctor said you need to lose fifteen pounds. And no, pinning a photo of a supermodel on your refrigerator is not going to help you lose those fifteen pounds no matter how many times you stare at the image. The photo, however, may serve as a daily inspiration and reminder on the kind of body you’re aiming for. As you watch your food intake and carry out your daily exercise regimen, look at that picture to push you into sticking to the program – and stop you from popping a few pieces of chocolate in your mouth.

If you have concerns similar to the ones listed above, then you should know by now that you should just harness the secret of attraction to make things work out well for you. Positive thoughts and actions are far more potent than you could ever imagine, so go on and try them out for yourself!

The Power of Positive Thinking and Accomplishing More!

by TJ Philpott

The power of positive thinking has been linked to better health but it also can help you to boost your level of performance as well! The fact of the matter is that having a positive mental attitude can help motivate you to accomplish more than you would have ever imagined possible!

Here are 3 ways having a positive mental attitude can motive you to reach goals and objectives you may not achieve otherwise!

Keeps Your 'Motor' Running

The simple fact is that if you think you can do something you are more likely to continue trying in spite of any obstacles you may encounter! Possessing a 'can do' attitude like this will motivate you and motivation is EXACTLY what most need when trying to accomplish anything worthwhile! The 'energy' you feel will also help to boost the level of performance you put into trying to achieve your goals!

Gives You Higher Expectations

Quite simply attitude equals altitude therefore if you expect more you will likely accomplish more as a result! Higher expectations also translates into setting goals that many without a positive mental attitude, may feel is out of their reach! If you want the best you must first believe it is your right or destiny therefore the expectations you have will help motivate you to fulfill these expectations! You must think BIG to achieve BIG therefore don't allow your thinking to limit your success!

Keeps You Open To Possibilities

When you 'expect' more and truly believe this is something you can achieve, the possibilities are endless! What may appear as a dream for one person can be something that is quite doable for the person with the right mindset! It matters little whether any possibility or opportunity you're presented with has even been successfully accomplished! History is littered with those who have 'ventured' where others have dared not to go and have succeeded and are now immortalized! There is always a first time for everything and this is something one must always keep in mind! Just because it hasn't been done 'yet' doesn't mean it can't be done!

The power of positive thinking almost always offers enviable results both mentally and physically! Our discussion above points out how a positive mental attitude can actually boost your level of performance by helping to motivate you! The fact is that in most cases people fall short of their goals simply because they don't put in the necessary effort and NOT because a goal is beyond their reach! Motivation will always play a key role in our level of performance which of course influences how much we do accomplish! The simple 'lesson' here today is that if you want 'bigger and better' things for you and your family, boost your output along with your health by adopting a positive mental attitude!

Dare to Break Free From your Comfort Zone and Live your Potential

Author: Andrew Horton

You can choose to continue living your life like a little shadow, which runs across the field of your potential every day and then simply disappears when the sun sets or you can make the choice today to begin taking the strides necessary to finally invite your full potential to shine. When you make this choice, you will finally begin living a life of meaning and fulfillment, where you will leave an indelible mark on everyone you touch.

Until you choose to take daily consistent action and accept 100 % responsibility for how your future will unfold, something amazing is going to happen; NOTHING! You will just remain trapped in a life of average. It is time to stop making excuses for delaying the action you know is necessary to live your dreams and realise your business goals. Become enthusiastic about your potential right now and create a clear picture of what you want to achieve, see this as not only an obtainable reality, but an achievable reality for you. When you apply consistent, inspired energy and create both a positive and expectant outlook; you will start to see your dreams turn into your reality.

Choose to ignite your spark of possibility today, by accepting that you have unlimited potential locked inside you. Unlock this potential, by taking small, consistent inspired steps every day toward discovering what you are capable of achieving. Each small victory you experience will brighten the light within you and show you anything is not only possible, but that it is possible for you. You truly are magnificent and capable of achieving greatness; believe in yourself and your ability and the doors of possibility open up for you.

 Making it Happen for you

Create a set of great personal values and surround yourself with the right people, who can form your support system. Have an optimistic spirit and develop a strong purpose, which you completely believe in. Accept that as you set your imagination free and consistently take inspired daily action; you will see your dreams unfold, day by day as they gradually turn into your reality.

Possibility plays a massive role in every aspect of our lives. When you create a really deep belief in your own potential and consistently take inspired daily action, the world opens up to you and you light the spark of possibility. Unleash your own unique gift today, allow that light which shines from within you to shine its spark of greatness on the world.  Finally accept that you can and will make the world a more beautiful place. Have the courage to set your light free and accept the responsibility of success. The world is waiting for you to express your light and free your potential.

Explore and Express your Potential

Dare to explore, the limits of your potential? Do you believe that your potential is limited only by what you believe is possible for YOU? Are limits real or are they self-imposed? Do you in fact have any limits at all? Set your imagination free and dream of all your possibilities. Your thoughts, words and actions predict your future. What are you thinking right now? Are those thoughts moving you closer or further away from your success?

Are you Prepared to Pay the Price to Express your Potential?

What price would you be prepared to pay, if the promise was anything you desired? How many hours of your valuable time would you give to this Endeavour? How much energy and resources would you be willing to expend to achieve this? For such a promise most people would give almost anything. Then why are you not doing just that right now, for unlimited potential is your birthright, believe it and you will see it. Believe in all the possibility, which is available to you, take inspired action every day and nothing is beyond the realm of your potential.

Your aptitude will merely assist your attitude, but your consistent good attitude will create the aptitude that is conducive to your potential. Possibility plays a massive role in every aspect of our lives. When you create a really deep belief in your own potential and consistently take inspired action, the world opens up to you and you light the spark of probability.  Good things come to those who wait. Great things come to those that get off their butts and make things happen. An open mind allows you to see opportunity all around you and with the addition of inspired action, delivers the prize of living your full potential.

Believe in Yourself and Create a Crystal Clear Focus about What you want

When you learn to shift your focus, opportunities, which are staring you in the face right now will almost miraculously seem to become clear to you. This shift occurs when you get clarity on exactly what you want. This then programs your brain to focus like a laser on finding ways of bringing exactly that into your reality.

Timing is Everything

We hold ourselves away from our potential, not because we don't have what it takes, but rather because we have unrealistic expectations around the timing, for the realizing our goals. Accept that everything you desire will arrive, when the time is right. Stay committed to your success and keep taking the daily actions you know are necessary to bring the success you desire into your life and your business goals and personal dreams will gradually unfold before your eyes. Embrace the concept of delayed gratification and you will live in the magic of life.

.You have a unique gift, a light within you that can make the world a more beautiful place. Set your light free, have the courage to face the possibility of rejection or the responsibility of success. The world is waiting for you to express your light and free your potential.

How Staying Positive Brings Greater Success

by TJ Philpott

For anyone, staying positive typically promotes a better mood and health due to the reduced stress you feel! Another huge benefit of having a positive mental attitude and the topic of this discussion is how it can help you achieve your goals! This is NOT to say a positive mental attitude is all you need to achieve more, but it will help you blast through barriers that can hold you back!

Let's have a quick look at how you can more easily achieve your goals by simply maintaining a positive outlook!

Problems are Opportunities

Let's face it, when you establish and then try to achieve your goals, it is inevitable that you WILL encounter obstacles! This is quite natural and to be expected, however it is your reaction to these obstacles that can and will have a significant impact on the outcome! Actually it is normal to view these 'encounters' as problems since they are standing in the way of you and what you intend to accomplish! On the other hand if you possess a 'can do' mindset that comes with a positive mental attitude you'll view these 'problems' as opportunities!

Quitting Is NOT an Option

As mentioned above having the 'can do' attitude can reinvigorate your spirits when you are facing those tough challenges! In order for you to reach your objectives you must have the willingness to work through adversity and accept the belief that for you quitting is NOT an option! Once people adopt this mindset they are able to achieve more quite simply because they continue to invest the effort instead of walking away!

Outlook Equals Energy

The amount of enthusiasm and energy you maintain DEFINITELY reflects in the results your efforts get! Keeping a positive mental attitude automatically instills hope in you and with this comes the energy you need to get more done! Once you begin to grow tired or weary, your outlook changes as does the quality of effort you are able to invest! Sloppy efforts bring less than satisfying results which leads to mounting frustrations, more mistakes and the eventual temptation to give up! The energy with which you approach just about anything is proportionate to the results you can expect to get, so stay energized!

Staying positive has many health benefits which are obviously of great importance but it can also help you achieve your goals more easily! The focus of the discussion above is on how maintaining a positive mental attitude actually helps you achieve more and with lees stress and effort! The fact is your attitude can directly impact the quality of your efforts along with the level of energy you are able to maintain! The long and short of what we discussed here today is that by keeping an upbeat frame of mind you can and likely will achieve more! On the other hand if you do have difficulty keeping a positive mental attitude about anything, perhaps the goals you've selected are wrong for you!

Three Steps to Guide You to a Positive and Prosperous Life.

By: Peggy Lamb

To obtain the goal of a positive and prosperous life you must control your thoughts. It is sad but true many of us see life as the glass as half empty instead of the glass being half full.
Negative thoughts draw negative actions like metal to a magnet.

Do you know the average person has seventy to eighty thousand thoughts each day? It is a sad reality, as I am sure you know, most of our thoughts are negative. Most of the time we are oblivious to the fact how important it is for us to make a conscious and diligent effort to concentrate on positive thoughts.

It seems much more comfortable for us to tell someone about our problems repeatedly over and over again. We also fall victim to listening to someone else tell us about their negative stories. It is so important that we take charge of our thoughts and action and turn negative thoughts and actions into positive and prosperous behavior.

How To Take Control In Three Easy Steps:

Step 1.

Read and recite positive affirmations daily.

Step 2.

Block negative thoughts when they creep into your minds eye. Remember replace all negative thoughts and actions with positive and prosperous thoughts and behaviors.

Step 3.

Share your positive thoughts with your friends, family members and peers whenever you can.
Dispel all negativity from your thoughts and surroundings. Keep your focus on positive and prosperous thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Remember you are the master of your universe.

Start each day with a positive focus. Tell yourself you are going to live a fantastic life, after all you deserve the good life. Keep your thoughts and beliefs on positive and prosperous actions for the entire day.

Remember our thoughts guide our life. And to have the positive and prosperous life we long for we must keep good thoughts and behaviors in our hearts and mind even when faced with negativity. So when you are ready to fire your boss, just remember that is not in the plan to achieve your goal of a positive and prosperous life.

The Power of Positive Thinking: How to Think Positively

The Power of Positive Thinking: How to Think Positively

By Drew Graham

Almost everybody agrees that thinking positively is one of the keys to being successful, this is why it is so frequently offered as advice to people. The problem is that it is not nearly as easy to think positively as a lot of people imagine, if it were everybody would be happy and successful. Learning how to have positive thoughts is a skill that has to be learned, the following tips should help you to get started.

One of the best ways to make sure that you are able to think positively is whenever you set out to do something always picture the task successfully completed before you start. This is fairly common advice in which you are told to picture the end results, the problem is that most people just leave it there. Obviously picturing yourself as being successful is not going to be enough, you will have to take action. It is however a very good start and is something that you should get into the habit of doing.

Another way to have positive thoughts is to learn about other successful people. This can be done in any number of ways but the most common are to read biographies of them or to watch television shows about them. When you see that other people have had success it will make it a lot easier for you to believe that you can do the same thing. Their success does not even have to be in the same field you are pursuing, it is enough to see other people who have succeeded.

Getting in the habit of using positive words every time you talk will go a long way to helping you think positive. It is common for people to say things like "I think I can do that" when really they should be saying "I can do that". This subtle change will have a huge impact on your thinking and you will soon believe that you actually can do it.

One last thing that you can do to help you think positive is to work on improving your posture. This may not seem like a bit issue but it is. If you stand up straight you will feel more confident and if you feel more confident you will believe that you can do anything. This is another one of those things that you will want to get into the habit of doing all the time. This will result in your being more confident all of the time and having positive thoughts all of the time.

The best way to use the power of positive thinking is by using positive affirmations.

Attitude for Greatness

What is attitude? It is what you think, believe, feel, expect, act, in relation to yourself, life, people, and your goals. Attitude can be positive or it can be negative; it can be limiting or it can be expanding; if you have a positive attitude, you feel alive, well, loved, happy, liked, confident,...you feel good; if you have a negative attitude, you feel angry, resentful, fearful, depressed, anxious, hopeless,... you feel bad. Your feelings are your thermometer to your attitude and, as we will see below, your life is the mirror to your attitude.

Now, how is your attitude, how is your dominant attitude? Is it positive, and expanding, or is it negative and limiting? What do you think you can achieve? Who do you think you are? What do you think about yourself? What do you think about other people? Do you think they are out there to get you or to help you? Do you expect to be liked by people or do you expect to be 'judged'? Do you expect to be lucky? Do you expect to achieve your goals? Do you expect that life is going to be difficult, that you will have to struggle to make money, or do you expect life is wonderful and enjoyable?

Your expectations determine what will happen in your life, as very simply, what you expect, you get. So, if you are not sure of what your expectations really are, take a look at your life: whatever you have in your life right now is a reflection of who you are inside and the vibrations you send out. If you are struggling with money, with your health, with a relationship, with your job, with people, it means that somewhere your attitude is not healthy. So, if you want to change your life, you need to change yourself, you need to change your attitude.

In fact, a healthy attitude is when you feel good about yourself, when you know that you will achieve your goals, when you know people will like and love you, when you know that things will work out, when you know you are precious and the Universe is conspiring to your happiness. A healthy attitude is when you love people, when you love yourself, when you thank God for who you are and for all the wonderful gifts you have, for all the people you have in your life, for all that has happened to you, because that has made you the person you are today.

So, your attitude towards yourself has a strong impact on your self-love, on the way you treat yourself, and so, on your health- mental, emotional, and physical. Your attitude towards people will have a strong impact on the response you will get from them, because if you love them, if you are grateful, if you appreciate them, if you are kind, they will love you back. So, three emotions are a key to great relationships: gratitude, kindness and love. In fact, as the most important needs of any human being are the need for connection, the need to feel appreciated and the need to feel loved, and everything that happens in your life happens through people, whether is in your personal or professional life, you need to have a very positive attitude here. And this means always, really always, look at the positive and best in people, you included. Look at the positive in people and circumstances, and they will become that, you will take out the best from them, and you will attract more of that. And look at the best in you, in how extraordinary and unique you truly are, look at your gifts, qualities and strengths, and you will develop a healthy esteem and love for yourself.

And your attitude towards life will determine your success or failure, whether you will achieve your goals and be the best you can be, or whether you are going to struggle. Now, your attitude towards your goals is also something more than that, because the expectation of achievement whether is the person you want to become or a goal you want to achieve, makes you become that person and achieve what you want before you actually have done it. It is the Law of Attraction. And the more you have expectations and you take actions to achieve your goals, the faster you are going to achieve them. So, let us suppose you want to be confident or you want to be successful, if you have the attitude and the expectations of being confident and successful, you are going to feel confident and successful already now. It is simply a shift in your consciousness.

Now, let us suppose you have developed a healthy attitude towards yourself, life, people, and your goals. What do you do when you encounter negative people or negative circumstances? What do you do when somebody gets angry at you? What do you do when you are driving and someone cuts in your way? Well, we need to develop an immune attitude, learn to be immune to negativity. You need to learn not to let anything disturb your peace of mind. You can simply ignore it and smile it away. And think that things are temporary, that if you have a great attitude, you will create a life where you have all that you desire and deserve, a wonderful life, guaranteed.

So, what is the attitude you are going to choose?

Break Bad Habits Now With Affirmations

Affirmations can be really helpful to break bad habits if you are persistent about it.

In order for you to really break bad habits you must: a) be aware that the unconscious mind exists and b) learn how to manipulate its existence.

And affirmations are great and powerful techniques in which, if used effectively, could bring out and address directly to your unconscious being.

By uttering simple positive statements of the way you wish to live your life, then reiterating them out loud daily, you teach your unconscious thoughts in order to guide you to a better path to be reflected by your whole senses.

You can use:

1) Situational statements: one of a kind affirmations which provide a definite aim in your life. Some examples are:

a) "My heart and lungs are healthy."

b) "I am very happy to be earning $120, 000 per year."

2) Timeless affirmations. These are statements which can be made use at any point in your life.

a) "My body is healthy and strong."

b) "I am so happy in every aspect of my life"

In speaking these words over and over daily, they penetrate into our subconscious mind till it becomes our reality.

Moreover, the positive language of these "feel-good" affirming sentences blocks off negative thought processes, and in effect, fosters positive attitude.

To fortify this belief, each day, every morning, when you get ready for the day, you can try to spare at least 10 minutes of your time in uttering these affirmations out loud. Simply listen to your own voice as you speak these and try to be detached and unemotional as you can.

And lastly, it is very important that you must try to obstruct any negativity and concentrate 100% of your language and attention to the affirmations that you are saying out loud.

Positive Thinking - Can the Way You Think Affect Your Health Physically? by Suzanne Glover

Positive thinking sometimes can be perceived as a lot of "fluff," but science has been able to prove that there's more to it than just the "placebo effect." In fact, this article answers the question, "How to be Positive Automatically" because it discusses one of the best benefits of positive thinking that makes maintaining positive attitude routine.

BECOMING ADDICTED TO POSITIVE THOUGHTS: Remember when you were upset as a kid and inevitably Mom would try to change your attitude by saying, "Everything's going to be alright?" Whether Mom knew about the power of positive thinking or not, those words were the best thing for her to say at the moment. Today, if we can be that "Mom figure" to ourselves and use positive thoughts and positive phrases like, "Everything's going to be alright," then we are actually using a very old "home remedy" to ignite different biological reactions within our bodies.

So, what exactly does that mean? It means that science has discovered that you can use the power of positive thinking for maintaining positive attitude and actually get "hooked" or "addicted" to it on a biological level.

One way that this happens is that your mind puts out chemicals that coincide with your emotions. So, when you're using positive thoughts to stay happy, your brain is actually flooding your body with "happy" chemicals. The interesting thing that occurs in this regard, though, is that your body may not be equipped to handle all the happy chemicals "coming down the pipe" if you've been depressed for a long time and are new to using the power of positive thinking to your advantage. So, your body has to make physical changes to adapt to the new flow of happy chemicals. Can it do this? Yes!

In fact, one of the best benefits of positive thinking is that as you get better and better at maintaining positive attitude, you are consistently putting out "happy" chemicals and your body produces more and more cell receptors - or portals - to receive the new flood of chemicals, and this is pretty exciting news if you need motivation to change your attitude. Why? Because the more positive you become mentally, the more "happy chemicals" your body prepares to receive and craves, so your body helps you stay happy in order to get its "fix" of happy chemicals. This is where you can say attitude is contagious because your body wants more "happy juice" so your mind puts out more "happy chemicals" to satisfy the "cravings" of your body for "happy juice" so you don't have to think about "how to be positive" anymore. You're on auto pilot!

POSITIVE THINKING CREATES A "SMARTER" BRAIN: Positive thinking also has a positive impact on how the brain itself functions. Research in the field of positive psychology has shown that when a brain is kept positive by maintaining positive attitude, it actually creates more neural pathways faster and has an increased ability to problem solve and "think better." In other words, practicing the power of positive thinking and maintaining positive attitude are like feeding your brain "super food" to help it thrive.

So, can positive thinking affect your health in a positive way? Yes. In fact, when you're super charging your brain with positive thoughts, it runs better and since it's the central computer to your body, it floods your body with positive chemicals that keep you healthy and happy.

How to get motivated: 4 NLP strategies that work

Author: Anna Aparicio

/mo·ti·va·tion/

1. The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way

2. The general desire or willingness of someone to do something

3. *My own definition: the art of getting off your butt and getting stuff done

Because here is the thing: you may have a burning desire to do something, you may have the best will in the world, you may even know all the reasons why you should do it… but if you haven't done it yet, don't be surprised.

Getting motivated doesn't happen by coincidence or by miracle. Motivation is not something that some people have and others don't either. It is something we all do, consciously or unconsciously, everyday!

Motivation is not something you have or don't have; it is something you do

Take training, for example, notice I say training, and not exercising! We want to do it, we know it is good for us, we know it is going to make us look better and feel better… but after a hard day's work, when tiredness sets in, who would blame us for wanting to slouch on the couch and watch some TV while eating our favourite treat?

Well, think of taking a shower for a moment. Most of us do it every day. We don't wait until we are all stinky to clean ourselves. We do it because it is the right thing to do; it is time to take a shower.

We are able to do this because we have built up this good habit over the years through repetition. We do it at the same time, in the same place, following the same routine, which is so ingrained in our unconscious that we are barely aware of the process.

If you want to get to the point where your training routine goes as smoothly as your shower routine, start following the following NLP rules:

1# IDENTIFY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

Answer these questions:

What do you want specifically? When do you want it by? Where? With whom? What for? What will happen if you achieve that? What if you don't achieve that? Is it under your control? Is it worth it?

You see, when setting up goals, a lot of people do it wrong. They state what they want to have, not what they want to do; things like "I want to be slim", "I want a six pack" or "I want to have toned arms"… But, what do you want to do? Because it is as a result of you doing what you need to do that you will get to have what you want.

Your objective needs to be stated in a way that your brain understands it. And just like your computer, your brain needs 3 things: affirmative statements that are direct and very specific.

If you are just thinking it then it is not an objective, it is just a thought. So, put pen to paper and write your answers to the questions above.

If you don't know what you want, how will you know when you've got there?

 2# MAKE A PLAN

Again, if you don't have a plan, all you have is a lovely thought. I suggest you get yourself a diary, an excel sheet, a calendar, whatever works for you, and devise your personal strategy. A strategy to suit your lifestyle, your working schedule, etc…

Keeping the end result in mind, what is the first step you need to take in order for you to do what you need to do? And after that? What's next? Do you have all the resources you need (resources are materials, books, money, people…), or do you need help?

If it's going to take you 12 weeks to get a six pack, set a date and work backwards from there. If you want to lose a stone in 3 weeks, do the same. Break your objective into smaller, more achievable chunks, so that this week you know exactly what you are doing with regards to training and nutrition, and you can focus on just that. As I tell my clients, it's one week at a time, one day at a time.

You see, now you have more than just a nice thought; now you have a plan of action. And believe it or not, this is what most people lack. It's hard to get motivated if you don't know what you want to get motivated for!

And what are you going to do when you are tired, sad, in a mad mood, frustrated…? You must put strategies in place, so when that happens, and it will, you know exactly what to do. You have to become a bit of a ninja!

3# FIND OUT WHAT FIRES YOU UP

There are a lot of things that we need to or should do, but that doesn't mean we do them. So I want you to try on the following sentences, simply add what you want to be able to do at the end.

For example, if you want to go to the gym every day at 6pm for an hour, try these on. Say them out loud:

I should go to the gym – I need to go to the gym – I have to go to the gym – I'd better go to the gym -

I could go to the gym – I can go to the gym – I will go to the gym – I'm going to the gym

Do this a few times and notice which one creates the strongest feeling within you, like you want to go do it. You've just unlocked your personal motivational language. Make sure you use it from now on!

4# IMAGINE YOURSELF SUCCEEDING

One of the main functions of the brain is to prove itself right. So, whatever you focus on is magnified, as the brain thinks it is an objective of yours. Also, the brain doesn't know the difference between a vividly imagined memory and reality. This is why if you want to do something, it's vital you imagine yourself doing it like this (read this NLP resource fully before you do it):

Think of yourself doing the thing you want to do, training in the gym, or whatever. When you think about it you may notice the thought to be at a certain distance from you, a certain size, and in a certain place. Just make sure you see yourself in it, looking happy, positive and really enjoying what you are doing.

Now, imagine the thought getting bigger and bigger until it's almost panoramic. Make sure it's big, bold and colourful, maybe add some sound to it, and notice how good you feel.

Now, imagine you can float outside of your body and into yourself in the image, so you can see through your eyes, hear through your ears and feel how good it feels to be doing what you are doing and loving it too! Intensify everything even more, so the colours are brighter, the sounds louder and the feelings stronger.

Now, tell yourself in your most motivating voice "Go For It!"

Now, take a deep breath through the nose and magnify the feelings so you feel even more motivated!

Repeat 3 times, first sitting down, and then standing up, and notice how you feel even more motivated!

It's vital that you build a propulsion system that makes you feel good and look forward to doing the things you want to do, so that you want to do them more and more. This is how you get to build up new more useful habits to last you a lifetime.

I've just shared 4 motivational strategies with you,  that when you use them, they will help you get more stuff done and achieve more, faster. They can be applied in any area of your life. These strategies have helped transform some of my clients from couch potatoes into fitness freaks, so good luck to you!

How To Change Your Life For The Better by Tom Gnagey

Unless you are in the depths of depression you probably sometimes wonder about changing your life in certain ways. Wanting and doing are very different concepts. Here are some ideas about helping you move from wanting to make those changes to evaluating their probable effects and then actually making them.

How to Change Your Life, Idea #1: Set a goal, perhaps two or three. Then, in some detail, write out how (not why) you believe reaching each goal will make life better for you and those around you in the long term. (This change will improve my life by ____ .) Decide if those are good enough reasons to begin working toward the goal.

How to Change Your Life, Idea #2: List the traits you possess that will assist you to reach each goal. Also, list those traits you will need that you don't yet possess. Determine how (if) you can acquire them. Having or acquiring the necessary characteristics is the essential second step.

How to Change Your Life, Idea #3: To reach a goal there are always small steps to accomplish in a given sequence. List those steps. Decide exactly how you will go about achieving each one. Is additional training necessary? Must you some how carve time out of your busy schedule? Where? Are there contacts you need to make? Will you need to earn or set aside money or obtain a scholarship to pay for something?

How to Change Your Life, Idea #4: Write out specifically how you will know when you have achieved each of the mini-steps along the way as well as how you will know when you have reached the larger goal. It usually takes this form: “(Such and such) will happen.”

How to Change Your Life, Idea #5: Look ahead and determine (honestly) how your achieving that goal will effect others. We typically need to set goals that help everyone who is involved or touched by the event. If your goal cannot be reached without hurting somebody else, either rethink the whole idea or plan ways to minimize or offset any such harm or discomfort.

In thinking about how to change your life for the better, mentally add up the costs. What will the cost be to the quality of your family life? What will the cost be to your over-all financial condition and will you realistically be able to recover? What will the costs be to your health? What will the cost be to your values and integrity?

Perhaps the bottom line when considering how to change your life for the better is the definition you give to to the concept 'better'. Better in what ways? Better than what (the present)? Better at what risk or loss or gain? Often the question should not be how to change your life but how to think more positively and realistically about the life you have. Often a few rather small changes or some reorganization can cast an entirely new and positive perspective on what you have; maybe not, but certainly consider that first.

It may be of great value to talk with a professional counselor or work through a self-help or self-evaluation program of some kind. Make sure your 'head' is in the right place before you begin such a huge task as changing your life in any major way.

A Beginners Guide To Subliminal Self Help

With the growth of the Internet more and more people are looking to self help products to help take control of their lives and enhance themselves. The main thing which has lead to this is because the Internet can be completely confidential. People are able to read up on their awkward problems which they probably wouldn't want to share with their friends. Confidentiality is important in self help, but there is a new method of development which is taking this even further - which is self help subliminal messages

Using subliminal audio for self help means that you can develop yourself completely confidentially. The messages enter your mind naturally and there aren't any audible words so if anyone else was to find your albums they still would not know what they were for.

How Subliminal Messages Work

Subliminal audio is basically a form of hypnosis. In terms of the end result - a positive outcome and a change within the mind - they both come to the same result. Just as hypnosis works by bypassing your conscious mind, so too do subliminal messages. The big variation being that rather than going into a deep trance like state for 30 minutes you play subliminal album passively as you do other things.

You won't consciously hear anything, however the subliminal statements will still make their way into your subconscious mind, and as they build up there this leads to changes from the inside, which grow and grow to produce external lasting changes too. Some people do experience very quick changes, but generally it takes a couple of after which you will see the improvements build up to produce a long lasting change in your thoughts, beliefs, and your physical behaviour.

The main use of subliminal messages has been for personal development and self help reasons. Traditionally getting used for areas such as thinking positive and increasing your motivation, but as their usage has grown so has the array of areas they cover, It is now possible to get albums on quite niche areas like albums to help you overcome your fear of success or even to help you to stop self pity

Subliminal messaging is still not right for everyone, if you think you are going to be able to just put an album on and instantly change then think again. However, if you are serious about wanting to make a change in your life then subliminal audio will give you a boost.
